Which one of your classes do or did you HATE most?

I have to do a PE course to graduate from the college I'm at (they exempt those older than 30 or so from the PE requirement). If I do it "online", I just have to sign up at a health/fitness center, go there every now and then and keep track of how long I work out or however that works haha.
Wow! What is your major?

That kind of money I do NOT have. That is one of the reasons I can't go back to school-- because of the high costs of textbooks, and with my paying my bills for most things, I can't afford it. It costs way too much. Heck, I'm expecting my next cable bill to be $100+, and I should be getting that sometime this weekend or next week.
You won't know until you apply. Your costs might be covered.

I liked all my classes, especially math, science, biology......

Classes have become more difficult from the time I went to school compared to my kids going to school.

Most hated I guess was History. Didn't like history because I can't memorize dates and locations and I think what they were teaching boring. Years later I found books on Hiroshima and I found that part of history very interesting. I read up on it and saw documentary as well on it. They didn't teach us anything about Hiroshima in school.

I don't understand why are you dissing at Mark? It is easier for you to ignore off-topic posts or discuss with moderator instead of blame on Mark.

It does not matter. If a person who come on this topic are suppose to answer the question or the topic. Not to change to another subject not related to classes or want to mention about hated classes. Yes, it would be better for the moderator to tell him not to change the subject but he did not warn him not to change to another subject if he is not going to answer about hated classes. Mark sounded like he was here to chat over nothing to do with schools. He just want to chat, period.

Now he is talking about getting Federal aid and hoping that he will go into college if he find the kind of help he need to enter college.

That's true, but I have like, a BILLION questions to ask. I do not understand how this works, flat-out.
Make an appointment for a sit-down meeting with your VR counselor, to start with.

Economics, accounting, and Linux classes. Ugh.

I like criminology though - I had to take a Social Science elective.

I used to hate English classes when I was in middle and high school, but I loved them at college.

Wow! What is your major?

It has nothing to do with my major. My major doesn't require it, but the local college requires ALL students to take certain classes if they want to graduate from the college in general (must have taken 1 PE class, up to English Comp 1020, both human anatomy and physiology, general psychology, government, cultural class of some sort like art or foreign language, etc.). I don't know why, since all I want is to get into the radiography program.. but to graduate, gotta take this and that too. pft.

Yeah..everyone here is also required to take some classes no matter yoyr major been....engkish 201(a few just 101)), algebra 2, statistocs, american government, history, biology, chemistry, speech, art or music general psychology. Thats all i think unless you want the A.A. then yoy need health sciemce p.e. and anither p.e. elective.

I think Mark is your grandson so that's okay.

Apply for VR and get started with discussing with a VR counselor. Longer you put it off, you will not get anywhere. Move along and do it.

I hated Geometry with a passion. I failed the 2nd semester and final exam. I went to a summer school with a neighbor-friend and finally passed it, thanked to my Geometry teacher for explaining more clearly than my teacher from my high school.

My high school teacher USED (probably still USES) a flow chart that made it so complicated instead of using the steps.

For example,

Given blah blah blah

Something like that.. sorry, I don't remember much lately. :hmm:

I never forget that my dad helped me doing my crappy Geometry paper and last question was so complicated and confusing. He wrote a plain paper, then I copied it off. Next day, I handed it on to my teacher. A day after, I got the paper back with her comment in red ink.. "Do you know this?" :laugh2:

Later on, I told her that my dad was a math whiz. She did not say anything afterward.

To Chicago Blue2

yep. if you major in any of the STEM fields, industry often financed it
STEM is science, technology, engineering, math

unlike philosophy or feminist theory or poetry etc

You won't know until you apply. Your costs might be covered.

I understand the core classes like English, math, psychology, speech, science, history, humanities, and basic computer. I'm just not familiar with P.E. being a core class.

I looked up the P.E. department listings for my school and there are only five courses offered in that department, and no major for it.

So, I guess it's not a universal requirement in American schools.

It seems like if you have physical problems you should be able to get a waiver from the requirement.

Office of Vocational Rehabilitation....ask for an interpreter for all meetings.
There are some signing deaf counselors but for the most part I would agree with you that a terp is a necessity.
