When preparing for travel......

Singapore Changi Airport is apparently the best airport in the world - I'll be seeing for myself in March.

Loved Heathrow - so much to do there; you wouldn't get bored. Incheon is quite good too.

ah... that explains. that collapse was pretty scary.

Yes, and then consider that Americans are not very sympathetic to the French. I do not know why, but many American citizens were treated fairly by boors (Except for charles de gaulle, of course ....)....

Interesting. I was in Paris in August, and found the French women to be slightly snobby whereas French males were too happy to help me if I needed it.

didn't have that issue when I was in Paris few months ago.

Couldn't you do that by airplane? Some take moving stuff and store it in the cargo racks for moving. Maybe try that?

Because I don't have much money and I have to take my car with me, as well as my stuff. It costs more to fly than it does to drive there.

Wish I could transport myself and my car by rail, would save me having to drive across the country.
My mom and step-dad took the Auto Train many years ago. It worked out real good for them. I don't know if that option is still available. It had limited routes.

They put their car on the auto transport, and they stayed in the passenger car of the train. When they got to their destination, they had their car available for local driving. When their stay was over, they put the car back on the train and rode home. It was very convenient for them.

Auto train only runs from Virginia to Florida from what I can see. :(

That's correct. It only runs on the East Coast, and nowhere else. You are moving to the West Cost, correct? There's no places for Auto Trains there.

Well, if my flight was leaving at 2am I'd stay awake, but 2 in the afternoon?? No. No I would not be worried about oversleeping and not being able to make a 2pm departure

Yeah, well..... I have heavy meds, and I have now officially begun my overnight phase of the home visit portion, because Ineed to be ready to hit the showers at 11 AM, and be ready to leave my home by 1 PM (was 1:30 PM, but I'm stopping at Subway before I head to CUS).

I'm an extreme night owl. I did this last Tuesday and couldn't sleep all night so I forced myself to stay awake for another day, but at around 10:45am I accidentally fell asleep. It happens to me a lot too, insomnia sucks... I hate it. :(

I don't have insomnia.... only way I sleep is if I take my nighttime meds, and they're powerful, so I try to hold off as long as possible, and because I am also a night owl, I sleep during the day, and wake up at night (hoot hoot, anyone?), and thus the cycle starts again.

If I'm going to go on a long trip, the night before I usually don't sleep very sound. My brain is working overtime making sure I didn't forget anything.

My daughter who just went to visit her sister in Ireland, changed her sleeping schedule a few days before she left. She slept during the day and stayed up at night. It helped with the 8 hour time difference.

Yes, I heard about this.... international trips require that people adjust accordingly, and that includes sleeping during the day. I woke up less than 3 hours ago, so perfect timing. Now I'm not doing too much.

In regards to my last post, does anyone know any remedies that help you fall asleep? (besides medication) I don't understand people who are able to fall asleep in seconds. I can't even fall asleep when I'm dead tired. Basically, I've tried everything and nothing works. Any help would be appreciated. :thumb:

Are you thinking too much? I find that a quiet mind is the best mind to sleep with. However, teaching yourself how to do that isn't easy to do-- it takes years of practice to be able to do it. Before, I was falling asleep within 3 hours of going to bed; now it's within 90 minutes, but I still have some nights where I'm thinking about stuff, but when I'm not, I fall asleep quicker-- sometimes within 60 minutes on a good night.

My brain is more active at night so I tend to think a lot, I can't help it. Every time I force myself to try to sleep, my eyes are closed for four hours, but my body and brain is still awake, it's so frustrating. I've been that way forever and it sucks because I would like to be able to go to sleep and wake up in the morning like normal people.
