When preparing for travel......

My brain is more active at night so I tend to think a lot, I can't help it. Every time I force myself to try to sleep, my eyes are closed for four hours, but my body and brain is still awake, it's so frustrating. I've been that way forever and it sucks because I would like to be able to go to sleep and wake up in the morning like normal people.

Only 4 hours? That's not good. People your age (and mine as well) should be getting up to 8 hours of rest.... I was asleep before 8 AM this morning, and woke up before 4 PM. That's 8 hours right there, but for some reason I'm still just a weeny bit tired, but once I pick up activity later tonight I won't be. For now, I'm just resting.

At least four or more. :ugh: I wish I had 8 hours of sleep, but I hate waking up in late in the afternoon so I'd force myself to get up at around 12:30pm so I get little sleep. Coffee gets me through the day though. :P

I'm not a fan of coffee, but I do like caffeine, though-- if I'm cranky, it helps me caln down a little bit. In fact, I brought a 2-liter bottle of RC for that purpose, cause I woke up earlier than I was planning to, and I WAS cranky, but I'm all right now.

I can totally relate. My hubby falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. I can count a million sheep and still be awake. When I was working it was even worse. Work was so, so busy, when I got into bed I kept thinking about all the prescriptions I filled. I do keep a note pad and pen next to my bed, if I remember something I just write it down.

Lately I have been wearing my CI to bed and listen to some music. It sounds like total crap but it helps with the tinnitus.

Hope you get a good night sleep soon.

I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep tomorrow.

As for when I used to wear hearing aides, if I was having a bad time sleeping, I would put it on and let the crickets lull me to sleep, and it worked pretty well for a while.

When do you naturally sleep when you don't have to be someplace? I am beginning to think that your natural sleep time is such that shift work would work well for you.

I go to bed at around 5 or 6am most of the time, but it varies. If it goes past 7am, sometimes I force myself to stay up for another day. I never take medications for my sleeping problem though, I was hoping that there would be some sort of a remedy or a miracle somewhere that would help. :dunno:

I'm sorry. :(

I wish I could just load my car on a train and sit back and relax while I get across the US, but sadly they haven't invested in transcontinental auto trains yet. :(

Maybe that's because the last place the train could stop is right here in Chicago, and CUS doesn't have any place for Auto Trains.... the tracks here are filled with Metra and Amtrak trains daily, and an Auto Train would likely hold up the volume of train traffic, and not only that, the length of such train likely isn't allowed here for safety reasons.

I don't know if you meant to have an attitude in what you wrote, but it came across as one. I think the attitude came from the very first part "Maybe that's because the last place the train could stop is right here in Chicago.."

It felt as if you were saying it in such a way like its something everyone should automatically know. Kind of condescending I guess.

I'm sorry. I did not mean it that way. I was trying to point out that many trains end their trips here in Chicago, and I was also trying to point out that Auto Trains do not have the space here at CUS, because the station itself isn't supposed to handle these kinds of trains, and plus, the number of cars it has would most likely block the tracks for the Metra and Amtrak, and impede the volume of traffic. That was what I was trying to say.

Too bad; that would be a nice way to travel.

Yeah, it would be, except for one problem-- the locomotives would either need refueling or need to be changed, and that's what CUS is for, as many of the locomotives are stored there, and I believe there's a refueling station nearby, too.

I pulled an all-nighter once for my first international flight to Samoa, as I was to be at the airport at 3am for 6am departure. Wasn't too bad as I was able to nap on the flight over and then get some proper sleep the first time in Apia.
One time when I was in Portland, Oregon in the U.S i had a 3.30am flight to catch and I didn't even sleep a wink so took a all nighted to be picked up however the flight was cancelled but managed to get on a flight at 7.40am and was so tired and slept the whole flight to Washington D.C.
