 dogmom, my teenagers have been on a baking frenzy the last few days....baking banana cream pie (very yummy) and pineapple pie (which I haven't tried yet...hope there's still some left - you have to get in quick with a family of 7 children!)

The other day when I was making homemade pizza, my hubby put his custom-order in: habenero chilli cheese (which he brought back from his last visit to the States) with bacon and potato toppings, topped again with fresh cut chillies. I made it for him today. I also made some more of my homemade pizza sauce base which I use for pizza, spaghetti, and tomato ketchup. I add it to my soups as well for a robust flavour. For dinner, I made another family favourite (which I mentioned before): Potato and Lentil Soup.

wow - desserts...YUM! Banana cream pie I've had but I bet theirs is great! Pineapple Pie never knew of but I bet both hubby and I would like it; he loves pineapple. Hope you can get in to try some!

for the homemade pizza do you make the crusts too? Hubby and I used to do kinda homemade pizza - get a pre-made crust and a bunch of fresh toppings and pile on - I always did a lot of veggies and sauce, small amount of cheese. Today probably would use no cheese or cheese alternative. And basil, I love fresh basil. Your sauce looks so good! Bet it makes your home smell wonderful:D
That's a neat idea, to add it to soups, maybe sometime I'll try that with some plain old jar sauce.

wow, nothing like a little heat, your hubby's pizza looks HOT...I love chilis but that's probably beyond me. My husband LOVES bacon and potato. What a combo for that pizza. Bet your husband will be so happy! And your soup too!

Tonight we are having spaghetti with Italian sausage and garlic bread. I will have my onion bread from the bakery instead of garlic bread.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to make:

Options:

#1: Pasta with organic marinara and home baked bread and salad

#2: uncured hotdogs with chili, baked fries, and broccoli

#3: Mexican rice and black beans with corn tortillas and chorizo

Somebody help me decide!!!!

#3 I will be there in one hour.

is there option #4 - All of above?

Pork chops and herb gravy, rice, and spinich salad with fresh strawberries and strawberry vinaigrette dressing. I'm stiuffed!

We had meatloaf..I made into a patty (I put cheese in it), left over mashed potatoes from Easter, just use it up and green beans. Simple dinner :)

Went with the Pasta option. Kroger ("Private Selection") organic marinara for 2.50$ a jar is so full of win!

Bonus = bottle of Charles Shaw cabernet Sav.

I am very undecided. There are a lot of very nice restaurants around here.... Sushi, Tapas, Italian, and i dont know what these three are.. Looks great.

I like several things from the Private Selection line. I usually make my own sauce, but I'll have to try the marinara.

I would go with sushi, but that is just because good sushi is hard to find around here.

I just got home but the pasta option woulda been my suggestion:)

I usually make my own as well, but for 2.50$/jar it's impossible to make an all-organic sauce for the same price. It has a rich, savory taste. I'd prefer it to be a little lighter, but I'm not complaining. It's still delicious. And the PS pasta is also a steal; it's made in Italy from organic wheat and usually on sale for about 1.50$ a package. Pasta night is so simple.

I also like the PS canned vegetables and 5oz organic spring mix. Excellent quality, and very cheap. I'm going to miss Kroger when I move to DC.

You're right...can't do scratch for that price. I've done the pasta and rarely buy any other brand now.

No Kroger in DC?? OMG!

:ty: dogmom. Yes, I make my pizza crust from handmade and hand-knead dough. After shaping it, I then pan-fry it (dry - no oil, much like indian breads), add the sauce and toppings and bake pizza in oven for about 15-20 minutes.

Hubby liked the HOT pizza but he is usually not into pizzas. :giggle: He much prefers his ethnic cuisine, which is extremely HOT.
