Drive from here about 1 hour and half to Thredbo - "Perisher Blue" The snowing business there, the snow business opens next week

FC - Im not sure yet. If I am correct doesnt Russellville do a big show over the river??

My hometown of Danville usually puts on a pretty good show and the best seat is at the park on the hill looking into town.

How much snow do they get there and what's the elevation of the mountains?

I am not sure about the elevation but high enough to get plenty of snow. But in 2006, they had the worst season ever - the snow wasn't enough but since last year it was the best ever seen in their history of snow business. And the good news, the snow arrived early this year. See picture on the website below

Perisher Blue Ski Resort - Snowy Mountains NSW Australia

According to that website, it says the highest point of the ski resort is Mt. Perisher at 6,738 ft or 2054 meters tall. The average maximum snow amount would be 1.9 meters or 6.2 ft high. It says the natural snow level is at around 5,400 ft elevation, pretty high there. Not bad for Australia!

Here in Washington State, we get average maximum of 12-15 ft of snow. The natural snow level is at around 2,000 to 3,000 ft depending on how good the season is.

Why would I be blown away?

Poor Jclarke. I will be blown away with different animals and different landscape in Australia whenever I come to visit in near future.
