I might to the Fall Haves Festival with my daughter and granddaughter if the weather is nice. New England weather can be so unpredictable .

No 4 day weekend for most of us.

I'm taking Friday off to head to DC to ride trains with my friends.

It's only a 3-day weekend here, if it's a day off at all. I think the banks and mail delivery observe it but that's all. It's never been a 4-day holiday here.

I will be working lol, I work at a hotel. While everyone else gets a 3/4 day weekend, I get to make beds and scrub toilets

In all the years I've worked I've never gotten Columbus Day off. I'm not sure if the schools are observing it or not.

But to answer... Nothing. Volunteer work for part of the day. Work on job hunt the rest. Nothing exciting.

I don't like to celebrate Columbus Day and hope here in New Mexico, someday, the government will have to change from Columbus Day to either Aboriginal Day or Indigenous Day.

Columbus and his men had done a lot of terrible things to our Native ancestors. We don't want to remember what Columbus had done to them. They should have turn their boats back to either Spain or sail over to India. They probably would have done the same thing over there than here. Columbus was not a hero and very ruthless man.

Why are explorers like Columbus abused and murdered native people who just happen to like living in the forests, even they were not modern like them? Columbus was barbaric and so are his crew. Also they are invaders into our country.

We are the caretakers of Mother Earth. Native ancestors cherished everything on Earth including water and animals. They never polluted. That is why we want to remain like that in the past and today. We call our country "Turtle Island".

No long weekend here... will be working on that day.

To answer your question, my school district and my son's school district doesnt observe it. However, the deaf school where my roommate and brother works at and the federal govt does. Lucky my roommate, brother, and hubby.

I so desperately need a long weekend. That wont happen until Thanksgiving.

My mom is flying in from AZ tonight so I will be spending the weekend with her and my brother's family. It will make my work week next week hell because if I go out and do activities on Friday night, Sat, and Sunday, I will be exhausted for the work week. Just this once and then rest rest on the following weekend.

I agree with Bebonang-

I also agree with her , I wish we would stop having Columbus Day and stop telling students a pack of lies about how wonderful he was . I remember that damn poem we had to remeber about him in grade school . What a waste of time that was !

But they were driven out.....and did not remain.
