What will you do with your tax refund?

Not exactly.

"People who paid no income taxes but earned at least $3,000 — including through Social Security or veterans' disability benefits — would get a $300 rebate."

Ah, the title of this thread was "What will you do with your tax refund?" and I was commenting on that. I see the "rebate" has already been discussed as a horse of a different color. However, you have a point that a horse is a horse, of course.

Well, it's good we can rib and joke a little. Supporting our neighbor countries in many ways (even though they all hate us, I see in another thread) is a huge burden I'd just as soon not bear as much as we do.

As for my rebate, that's to fund a trip. My girlfriend was born and raised in this area, so I'm going to show her the "old country," the Montana Territory my great-grandfather helped settle in 1863 (Montana, western North Dakota, South Dakota, and Northern Wyoming).

For the downpayment of one of these:

What a cute rig, Dixie. It's hard to tell relative sizes, but it looks like Ford's slightly smaller answer to the Chevy Avalanche.

Yes, I know that other people do pay taxes. :P I just felt outnumbered by all the posters celebrating their refunds.

Maybe we all should send some money to Reba to make her feel like she is getting a refund?

Despite buying a house last year and having two kids, we will owe $4,000 for 07 taxes.

We owed $2,000 for 06 taxes and only paid off half of that so now we will owe $5,000 to dear sweet Uncle Sam. :pissed:

My hubby said that we got hit with the alternative tax minimum that hadnt been adjusted by the Congress so people in our income bracket are getting hit hard.

Are you serious? :eek3:

Normally you would get refund after spend a lot of money on issues for house and pay monthly mortage with interest for that house?

I alway get tax refund because we spend money on house/garden... Oil for heating... gasoline for travel to work and take children to doctor, school, etc. We only get tax refund IF we spend money on thing accord enviornment-friendly etc. - monthly tax from wage slip....

Since I seem to be the only person who pays taxes, and everyone else gets refunds, maybe we should just cut out the middle man and I'll send my checks directly to you all.

Yes, because you are self-employee and your hubby is self-employer... I know because my Dad was self-employer before. He said that it's cheap to be self-employer/employee to pay annual tax than we as worker/employee pay tax monthly.

No, self-employed tax is not cheap. Hubby pays double. He has to pay the employer and employee portions for himself. That's twice as much.

Because you are a single, that's why you pay more tax than married couple or family.

Not true, I'm single and got tax refund.

I always thought being single is cheaper than married couples for tax system, or they are compare.

You're right. I'm married and I don't get a refund.

People with dependent children usually get more money back.

Do you mean that your hubby pays tax for employer/employee? I learn from US tax system bit. I thought accord US tax system that worker/employee have to pay their own tax to federal government, not their employer pay part of tax for their employee/worker?

Please correct if I am mistake about US tax system.

Accord my Dad and EU tax system - he had to pay part of tax to his workers. He wrote out how much tax spending per annual to his workers, material, gas mileage, etc to tax officer. The tax officer work out how much % annual spending and then overleft he has to pay and also tax for himself. He never get tax refund but he said it could be possible that he get tax refund IF he donate many charities accord %...

I guess it could be depend on % of your wage gross... how much you spend a year?

Accord tax tarif - single pay tax more than married/famliy.

Like I said in #55, USA and EU are different in tax system.

I rather not to discuss about spend a year because of personal and too much info.

What about tax tarif? how?

Yes, he pays both because he is the owner boss and the worker. So he pays double for himself. He has no other employees.

Our tax system is different.

We give more than 10 percent of our gross income to charities but we still don't get a refund. It does lower the amount we owe but not enough for a refund. :)

Yes I already said in previous post that I aware that the difference tax system between US and EU.

I do not need to know how much you spend but state that it depend on difference tax gross of monthly wage... It really depend on difference % of monthly wage why you get tax refund and other have to pay.

You can ask your tax officer about tax tarif. As you said that you get tax refund. Did you fill out with the help from tax officer? If yes, then ask him how many % of tax gross, you pay from your monthly wage slip then you can compare between single and married/family couple.

My American co-worker told me that she pay low tax and get high tax refund a year due married and family. It does the same with Germany here as well.
