I ´m curious what kind of floor you have in your house or apartment....

Ceramic floor tiles, PVC floor, marble floor, wood floor, laminated floor or carpet etc.

I have laminated floor in every rooms except bathroom, toilet, mud-room, kitchen, hallway, stairs for basement, 1st and 2nd floor and 4 rooms in basement. I use rug on laminate floor at computer room, 2 living rooms and dinning room.

Ceramic floor tiles in mud-room, bathroom, toilet, kitchen and 3 rooms in basement.

PVC floor at one room in basement... I use it for children playground... now no more.. my children are big now. We use it as "fitness centre" :D

Marble floor at hallway from basement to 2nd floor including stairs.

I rid dirty carpets to fix laminate floor in every rooms and new marble floor for hallway and stairs...after re-model my house in 2001... I prefer good looking hardwood laminate floor because of no wax polish or scratch, vaccum, shampoo, etc.. since I have children and pets.

I would like to show you what laminated floor is...

Come and share your discuss with us why you prefer wood, tiles, carpet, etc.... :thumb:

Ok for my house three bedrooms that have carpets, Dining room that has ceramic tiles that goes to my masterbathroom too, Kitchen tile and formal room that has hardwood floor and living/den room has hardwood that also big rug cover on it.

My rent home is.. ugliest carpet grey and stains little bit.. prevouis tenant.. *rolls*

I've painted the wine wall instead of peach color all made me :puke: bright color peach..

wasn't mean you PEACHLADY.. lol
but color.. *icky*

Kitchen floor is white tends dirty fast.. **tired of mopping once in two days..** Mumbling expense chemical....

Bedrooms.. are same ugly carpet grey... as extactly living room and dining room..
*rolls*

Attic old wood and little rot.. covered by carpet..

My 1st floor are warped floor ain't perfect flat 100% I wud say about 30% warped..

cuz this home is cheap-o and doll house! VERY OLD HOUSE!

3 different type floors in my apt. .

One hardwood floor
One tile floor - - kinda like marble
One multiple-color berber(sp?) floor

If I had a choice I'd prefer whole floor to be hardwood. . :) Easier to clean that way and just put couple of rugs thats it. .

The whole house have the wood floors except basement, two bathrooms and kitchen.

Kitchen and downstair bathroom have the same tiles - ugly color!

Upstair bathroom have grey/white tiles

Basement have cement

in the kitchen have bare floor, same goes with the bathroom. The living room and bedroom is regular short carpet, brownish grey color. It's sort of hard carpet not the soft kind.

Liebling, what is the difference between laminated floor and hardwood floor? Does laminated wood floor have special coating protection? Good thread, Liebling and good timing because this year Dave and I are going to look around for good quality wood floor. We might get them sometime this year or next year.

At our house we have carpet everywhere except for foyer and kitchen. In foyer and kitchen we have ceramic tiles. Too much carpet for us. Even in dining room! We got some stains on dining room carpet cuz of our kids. We would like to remove carpet in living room, hall and dining room and replace with some kind of wood floorings. We want to keep carpet in all our bedrooms so our feet will stay warm from walking on carpet after waking up.

Yes, Laminate floor have special coating protection to avoid scratch, chip, etc which it´s good who have kids and pets around... You do not need to polish wax on laminated floor but just damp mop like what you did with cermanic floor tiles or PV floor.

Hardwood is also good but it´s stress to tell children and pets to be careful to not scratch, clip, not play with cars, doll, etc... You know what the kids are...

Clean hardfloor with wax polish.... hassle... that´s why I choose laminated floor instead hardwood floor.

Without children and pets, hardwood...
With children and pets, laminated floor look like hardwood... Everyone thought it´s hardwood but it´s laminated floor.

If you decide for laminated floor, then don´t remove carpets... Why? Because it helps to reduce noisy when walked on and also warm, too.

It´s stupid of us to remove carpets in 3 bedrooms to fix laminated floor... We were about remove carpet at living room and dining room... but the building contractor who extended our winter garden for 2nd living room and mud-room with porch in 2000 stopped us to tell us to not remove them... but just clean the carpet well then add newpaper or thin padding to cover with laminated floor. My hubby do what contractor recommended us... We thank him for his recommendation... I would not remove carpets in bedrooms if I know an earlier... :squint: Anyway, extend winter garden for 2nd living room - we covered special padding underneath to prevent nosiy... and warm...before fix laminated floor.

Any questions?

Very true, that´s what I put rugs on laminated floor... it´s lovely and easier to clean.

My new apartment has a light brown carpet for the living room, bedrooms, and in the hall too. In the kitchen and the bathroom has a creame tiles...beautiful tiles!!

The light brown carpet is new, they put there recently.

I own house, and *IF* I have enough money, I'd replace these stupid carpet with real solid red oak hardwood planks!!! And for kitchen, I love ceramic tiles! Same goes to bathroom. But none of em got it. Litholum floor sucks!!! arrrggghhh!!! Can't wait to get enough money.
I finally replace the landling floor that faces front door with Hextagon tiles, used to have marble! STUPID!!! Why would previous owner put marble in there! Perfect stage for accident caused by wet shoe mix with snow... perfect recipe for disaster! Now it is not as smooth like marble!

Can you care to explain me what "Litholum" floor is?

Yes I'm agree that marble floor should not replace outside of front house because it's unsafety for snow issues... slip and fall down... Yes, Hextagon is good ideal for outside of front door. We were recommended to not build marble floor outside of front door and also mud-room, too.

Could you show me the example pix of Hextagon tiles? Thanks DHB :D
