What is your opinions on Open Relationship ?

Byrdie, yes its about sex empowerment, but it seems to be based on ego stroking sex empowerment.....Like it really does seem that people who are into that sort of stuff don't have an emotionally mature grasp on intiminate relationships. Their sexuality is more immature fratboy type, rather then sexuality as a healthy expression of an intiminate relationship. For them, its ALL about "hee hee hee........I'm married but I can STILL fuck anyone!"

Iam curious...if a married couple engages in 3somes or whatever but as long as they explore these kinds of things, is that called an open relationship or is an open relationship strictly based on married people going off having sex with other people with the permission of their spouses? I am not an expert in this kind of thing so I just wanted to make sure that my understanding of an open relationship is correct or not. Thanks

That's a good question. I'm neither an expert in this too but I'll give this a shot.
IMO, If a married couple has threesomes - I don't really think it is an open relationship because it is a random experiment or a phase, if you call it that way. I think with an open relationship is about being married but yet having a relationship with someone else (whether it includes sex or not). It is about having much more meaningful stance to it and sharing it with someone else other than your spouse and knowingly that either it can go awry or it doesn't.
I'd like to see what others think about this as well.

My husband wants us to experiment with a 3some and I told him that I dont want an open relationship and he said that is not considered an open relationship..just to experiment. I guess I am clueless about this kind of thing ..lol! I cant imagine having a relationship with someone else sexually other than my hubby. If that's what defines an open relationship then it is not for me that's for sure. Too much drama, in my opinion.

I thought an open relationship is when both partners agree that they can have sex and/or a relationship with someone else/other people.

Based on what you said of your husband's stance - I'd also think open relationship is about getting in the grind with other people but at the same time when it comes to 3somes, there are some confusion to it because some says it's an experiment/phase while others says it is an open relationship.
To my definition, an open relationship is where you are mutually involved with someone else other than the spouse at the same time.
But yeah, open relationship is about coming to an agreement between both partners for getting involved with others.

Open relationship means the couple separately see other people on a consistent basis. Dont know if it applies to one time thing. I could be wrong, and I dont know a lot about open relationships.
