In the whole metro area, we've only been able to locate one store that does, and that is Fleet Farm. Similar to home depot or menards or your local lumber stores, but even they don't carry them. I'm lucky I have a fleet farm close by.

You didn't use NUTTIN' for the fireplace! Someone kept the fire roaring all day for you and all you did was come home from skiing and zzzzzz in front of the fire.

Yes. And had I known how limited that was, I mightve thought twice. The one perk of this kind of stove is no mess versus real logs.

Oh, yeah, less messy and no lugging around logs, keeping them dry, etc. Is your pellet stove stand alone or is it a fireplace insert? Guess what; my sis-in-law in Oregon has a pellet fired BBQ! I'd need to do some digging but it is really expensive and maybe from another country....not sure but the set-up looked really neat..can control the temp, etc.....

It is a stand-alone unit -- it looks very similar to this but ALL black:

It comes with a thermostat so I can set it to run at a specific temp which is nice. I live in the metro area (suburbs, actually) but still nowhere near where easy access to firewood would be at all times, so it was either this or gas. I love it - it lends a great ambiance to the house!

I believe it when your S-I-S's was expensive -- mine was $4k.

Looks nice....is your flue on top or at the rear? Yeah, considering sis-in-law's unit is just a pellet fed barbeque grill, it sure was expensive. I think it was 700 bucks for the smaller of the two size offerings.

It comes with a built-in thermostat and remote, so I can set the remote just like a house thermostat. So when it reaches a certain temp it can and will shut off for a while.

The flue is on top (or on the back, actually, near the top) and extends out through the wall. It looks rustic :) There's also a second pipe for fresh-air intake.

Ok, out the wall as opposed to thru the ceiling, attic, and roof. I guess out the wall and the flue and its cap extend up to at least the peak or higher than the roof....glad you are happy with it except for the pellet availability. Does it have a heat/gas recapture thingy for efficiency/heating more of your space as opposed to 90 percent of this hear going out the flue....like another blower? Sorry I'm so inquisitive....:lol:

It does have a blower. And that can be set to low, med, or high. Even at low, it heats up the house so warm that I keep my regular furnace set for 60, and it never even gets that low. The stove keeps the house at about 75 easily. The savings on the energy bill is incredible (but we make up about 3/4 of it in wood pellet costs, so not substantial savings, just some, so it's the ambiance that makes me stick with this :lol: ) I often turn it on around 7 pm and shut it off around 11, the house is still warm the next morning!

No problem asking questions, I certainly don't mind. I own a 4 level home and this is set on the 3rd floor (1/2 of which is at ground level) so the part that goes out the wall is at the very top near the ceiling, so it's about the 1/2 way point of the height of the house, give or take. (City had to approve the exhaust/intake and installation and they did. :) I didn't install it - the fireplace guys did.) And I think because it's such an open floor plan is how the heat circulates so well and keeps it warm. It might not be as ideal in a closed basement with no place to go, ya know?
 
I learned that the sign for blue jeans is very similar to blow job... and should be more cautious when and where and in what context I use said sign
