Something quite intresting-- when it's warm outside, those silver bells on the back of Metra trains sound normal. When it's cold, however..... a LOT louder.
Makes sense. Sound travel through air and when air is cold, it is denser so therefore sound would travel easier so would be louder.
OMG, I remember the time out walking in Scotland, and getting into the nettles. I can still feel the pain, serious pain. I had never been around nettles before, completely unaware of what they looked like. I learned quickly.
A couple of things I learned early this morning-- the first being that the way I bundled up worked really well last night, and will use it again if it gets that cold again the next time I head downtown.
The second thing I learned? That Broadway and Irving Park between 2-5 AM is no man's land-- and I mean that literally. I got stuck after I got off the #151, and the situation took a while to figure out.
You say it took a while to figure out BUT then you leave us hanging without telling us what you figured out. Why not tell us what you found worked????
I learned that in my state (SC) sheriffs can be arrested only by a coroner. Strange.

I learned that UPS messed up my Amazon Prime delivery.
On Dec. 28, I ordered an item for my grandson who will be going away to college next week. With Amazon Prime, the delivery usually takes two business days. I expected one extra day because of the New Year's holiday. That's fine.
But . . . when the item arrived at W. Columbia, SC, it should have been out for delivery the next day. W. Columbia is 100 miles from my house.
As of Jan. 2, it was still sitting in W. Columbia, after arriving there Dec. 30. Huh?
Then, on Jan. 3, I noticed it was shipped to Des Moines, IA, 1,200 miles away! What?!
So, I called Amazon. The representative was very courteous and helpful. While I stayed on the line, she called UPS and put me in contact with their rep. The UPS guy apologized and said it was their fault. He said I should get the package next Wednesday (a whole week late).
We shall see.

So you had to sneak onto this forum.

According to the current tracking, it's still in Davenport, IA, and should be delivered by end of day Tuesday.I know how frustrating it is... looks like someone in the Louisville Hub misloaded your package into the wrong container. Hopefully the package get there on Monday.
