What did you learn today? Part II

Thanks Cheetah, I know you have headaches. Did the CI help with this and the noises. That at this time, would be my only reason to go forward with it. I respond poorly with surgery. After the long hospital stay and scare I just can not think about going through all that again. For almost a week now I have not been able to lift my head off my pillow without severe headache and getting nauseous. I just want to get better and start living again. I wish there was an easy answer.

There are no easy answers. :( I wish there were easy answers too!

I don't know what type camera you have. I never install the Canon software, I just plug the USB cable in and proceed to manually copy the files from the camera to where I want them. You may need to set your camera communications settings from "normal" to "PTP".

Or use a card reader.

EDIT: you can also check out the Windows 7 compatibility page. sometimes they provide drivers here: Windows 7 Compatibility for Cameras & Photo: Digital Cameras Hardware: Download Device Drivers

Thanks for the tips.

I bought a new camera and after some trouble shooting and buying memory cards and a card reader, I was able to load pixs into my computer via my camera. The camera that I wanted was sold out so I bought Samsung PL210. It was on sale around 119 dollars (a bit out of my budget but worht it) and it has all the features that I want for close up work with my jewelry. I had to install a memory card to get it to work with my computer but I will be able to photograph my jewelry and upload for critique and then upload on esty and my company fan page on FB as well.

I hope that I don't bounce anymore checks via business account anytime soon. :P I think now that I have everything I need except for products that I ordered on jan 16 which never came I should be all set. I will need to talk to my jewelry supplier to see why it never came.

I had hoped I wouldn't need to buy a new camera anytime soon but I'm a afraid that since my ancient camera isn't working, I had to buy a new one. :P

I learned that my sons deaf friend no longer wants to wear her CI. At 6? Wow..

Yep, Sharky it's free. It's very similar to Photoshop but the difference is that it costs nothing. :)

You'd be able to do those things you mentioned. It might take work with the feather/masking tool if you need a 100% perfect image.

Oh thanks, Naisho.. wanted to know about that so will try Paint.NET and see how it goes.. I do have Photoshop on my puter but it a trail one.. ehh...

Maybe some other child picked on her at school.

It could be. She goes to a Deaf schoo but several of her peers have CIS too so I dunno. I don't work there so i have no idea.

As most of you know, I have been deaf for 8 months. I lost all of my hearing over night due to an illness. We just got a call from my ear specialist. They got most of the test results back and have now said I AM a canidate for CI. Now I am really confused. All along they have been telling me that I was not a canidate so I dealt with that. I am afraid to have surgery again. Also worried that my brain problems could get worse. I know I do not need to do it right of way, but they are saying the results are better if you do it sooner rather than later since the brain still remembers sounds. If I knew for sure that having this surgery would help with all these noises and headaches I might consider it. For me at least I always seem to be in that low percentage of what can go wrong with a surgery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I feel for you....I was also told by doctors at Mayo Clinic that I was a candidate, but would have to have more surgeries on my ears due to chronic infections.....Several surgeries, hospital stays, etc., etc. And the last surgery for Cholesteatoma was a very bad one, and the left ear is now slowly draining again! And my doctor still is trying to persuade me to have the CI....

I've made up my own mind finally. Due to so many surgeries, I will not elect for the CI....and don't understand why a doctor could even suggest it to me after all the ear problems I have and still have.....

I'm sure the brain problems you are having is a very major concern to you....and not knowing which way to go....If your ears are basically healthy then it might be OK...then again the problems with your brain ....Perhaps getting many more opinions from other doctors and brain scans might help. It's a difficult decision to make. Good Luck, tho' and God Bless....rockin'robin

I learned that my Ragdoll lived longer than the average Ragdoll.

Your ragdoll is alive... ? Ummm, is it a good ragdoll or a bad ragdoll?

Oh wait, I'm calling off the priest. Seems a ragdoll is a type of cat and not some possessed child's toy. Whew! Close one!

The parents don't know why. She won't give a reason. I was surprised because over the summer she loved wearing it.

Kids are weird, and unpredictable. Sometimes the answer to their behavior is deep and profound... but usually it is random. I love asking them why they do things... the answer is never what you think.

Kids really are weird. :giggle:

Oh Cheetah. I know you meant to be funny and din't know. She just had to put her cat down recently.

Oh. I'm sorry about that. I honestly did not know what a ragdoll was when I typed that. I had to look it up. I lost my service dog last year so I understand how it is to lose a beloved pet.

when changing boys diapers, keep their area covered at all times, or you'll get peed on...
