Oh, shit. I wrote a thesis about African American writers. I'm whiter than a ghost. Does this mean I should have wrote a thesis that relates to my counterparts?

why get all bitter in the first place? I've never been to graduate school. I hope you're not going to display that same behavior to someone who would ask same question.

I'm advising you to seek anger management program.

Any normal and respectful person would not ask the questions you asked in the manner you asked them.

The type of person who does deserves to be dealt with forcefully.

Drop the act.

In case you didn't know, I merely asked a question after you replied back in a disrespectful way (not toward me) at Post #1899.

You might want to try to drop this "Hot Angry Italian" act. It's silly and unproductive. I eat people like you and I'm not in mood for lasagna. :aw:

Quoted for double like.

The big difference is if the framing was towards the deaf are not as able as their counterparts the written thesis will serve as an educational piece to these who are not aware of the community delivering as a frame that could be damaging.

Condescend much? I love how you insinuate that I might represent the Deaf as inferior.

Believe me, I have done far more research into literature with deaf characters and themes than you, and I have also done more research in disability studies and othering.

You don't need to worry about me.

Interpreted at work, call the doctor to arrange externship for phlebotomy class. I am pleased to see results coming along to hopefully, land job from this.

are you trolling, enticing, and harassing me, lanapoo?

I won't report this post because I'm a nice, forgiving asshole :) but please make sure you review the forum rules again - http://www.alldeaf.com/announcements/95-forum-rules.html
3.) NO TROLLING. A troll is someone who provokes members into flaming discussions by posting outrageous messages, and usually ends with name callings and flame wars.

9.) No bashing, flaming, harassing or being rude to other members. Period.

10.) No enticing or provoking other members to cause them to get into trouble.

Wish you the best of luck Oceanblue7.. How long is your extership for?

As much as I know, I do catch myself framing the Deaf incorrectly.

"Deaf with other disabilities" for example... That statement implies the deaf is a disability in itself. I made that statement a couple weeks ago.

After the workshop I paid to go to last weekend - I am going to be much much more aware of what I am saying, how I say it.

It is one of the most important things on my mind right now.

Again, I have to put an emphasis on this; since I havent seen the work, I hope you put it in the right frame. I know you have the ability to. I just hope it is.

That is all there is to it.

.

Then why even bring it up? And let's remind everyone of the snarky post you made to start this whole thing:

A thesis that you will have to defend in front of a bunch of people that don't know anything about the deaf/"hoh" community?

Must be easy.

I think anyone can see that was a deliberate attack on my achievement. Why? I have no idea...

And yet you and Sancho Panza are trying to paint me as the bitter one?

Seriously?

I brought that up because of framing. It has to come from the core of an individual. A lot of people are fine with the deaf = disabled framing. Even Gallaudet.

First off. WHATEVER. You insulted me and tried to make light of my upcoming thesis defense, and you know it. Stop trying to do the run around.

Second. What in the world does framing have to do with this? I don't get it. Are you still insinuating that I might represent the Deaf as inferior or something? You're really just chasing your tail at this point. Maybe you should just let it go.

Sorry you don't see it the way I do.

manipulating and twisting his message, I see...

I see in your Post #1932 that you have "done far more research into literature with deaf characters and themes than you, and I have also done more research in disability studies and othering."

It is reasonable and logical that while one thought what you have done is commendable... but one would understandably wonder that since you have put much time and effort in research... did you also apply that same time and effort in deaf community? the "real life research".

Inferior? no not at all. I am not questioning your knowledge but I hope you can see where it's coming from and you should know that it's expected to be asked about that... just like Obama :)

Maybe you should just let it go.
as I said before - it's best if you drop this "Hot Angry Italian" act. It will blind you in life.
