What did you do that was "Green" today?

Tossed my deodorant out. Gonna get better ones.

Propylene Glycol. You ladies should see if your lotion/cream has it.

I have a good book that is useful. It's a guide to food additives and cosmetic ingredients.

'The Chemical Maze' by Bill Statham

That can affect fuel consumption either way depending on speed.

Correct. I read about a study somewhere that there is a specific speed where if you go above it, it's more fuel efficient to use the AC with window closed. Below it, better to roll down your windows (no AC). I think the speed was something like 45 mph.

But, PFH was right. Generally, the faster you go, the more drag you create.

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

Solar cooking is what I cant resist doing. I remember cooking hot dogs with do it yourself way.

People were doing that at earth day. Using a white box with tin sides

Yeah. I love going to green energy festivals to check what's new there. It was neat to see a solar panel running 2 heavy duty circulator fans from a inverter box. I would love to grill some meat in the sun without using characoal or propane. It will take a long time but ...all you need is the sun.

I collected some appliances to be parted out and stripped of copper. Hiring someone to do that.

Could you please explain what is propylene glycol? What is not so green about it?

It's the main ingredient of antifreeze.

The purpose for it's use in human cosmetics and food is to keep things soft for a long time. Ever wonder why if you find a old tube of toothpaste the toothpaste itself is still "chewy soft"?
It's also found in "chewy" dog treats.

The thing that led me to this is my knowledge of antifreeze and seeing Propylene Glycol Alginate in cookies for humans. I was like , then researched on the differences. Apparently the P.G.A. is a natural chemical derived from kelp.

But yes, some human food has Propylene Glycol in them. I am not sure which though.

I signed up for a bag ban group. First meeting is in 2 weeks. Also re purposed some wood crates.

Stop it. Just stop this nonsense right now. Get back in your 8mpg monster truck, drive to Walmart, buy some gmo corn-fed beef, and punch a hippie.

You are really starting to piss me off.

It's not as commonly used for antifreeze in engines as far as I can tell. Not as common as the ethylene variety anyway.

Yeah. I knew about the ethylene.

Grew up in a mechanic family. It was just when I saw the Proplyene Gyclol Alginate on a food label - it all linked and I had to do research.

Bottom line, my rule is that if you would never drink it, do not put it on your skin.
