What are you thinking about? Part VI

Do you know why did they earn more? Because of health reason? :hmm:

Health is part of it, but the extra money helps, too. Now, those who aren't used to being awake overnight should not attempt to do this-- those who can handle it should, because working overnight seriously messes up your health. And they also get health insurance here, too, I believe, for a full-time employee.

Having a third shift sucks...

Most of deaf employers at California School for the Deaf Fremont work as 3rd shift by supervising students overnight, and they like their jobs because of completing homeworks and online courses during the work hours which is really nice, but is it good for health? that's my question.

Health-wise, if students are out of control, no it's not. I have a friend who works at the Iowa School for the Deaf, and he says working overnight is no easy task.

Defenetly not good for health. I had.. Ok maybe i still have insomia so the sleep deprivation wasnt as bad for me but it is for a lot of people. And well stress is a biggy. The more stress tou have the weaker your immune system. Also fatigue can make you get eaily sick, i stopped the third shifts cuz i was getting sick to frequently.

Where I work at the hospital, third shift employees make a ton extra per hour. Usually, you start third shift and as you gain seniority you move to first shift. I started as a third shift P.A. and I made an average of $13.00 more an hour. ( I'm salary but that's what the hourly would have worked out to for starting salary ) RN's make an average of $9.00 more an hour. I have friends who work for the Sheriffs office and their over nights make an average of $6 more an hour. It depends on where you work, your education and what they require. Of course jobs like Walmart are going to pay less over night they pay less everywhere! :laugh2: Overnights aren't so bad once you get used to them. I did it for years and years and never had an issue with it except some sleep issues. ( which honestly I've always had ) Some people prefer to work overnight.

There is no rock solid proof saying it is bad for your health medically speaking as long as you're getting some sort of sun exposure. Honestly, if you take a D3 supplement working over night, you'd be golden. Just make sure you're getting some sort of sun exposure on your days off and you'd be perfectly fine. There are studies and some opinions, but no rock solid proof it can damage your health.

Sometime, students could hop out of window at middle of night and hopefully went undetected.

It get dorm supervisors into trouble because they don't check frequently as required.

Which is why several dorms have alarms. Not sure if ISD has those, though.
