My bad. It's not 88%, but it's 85% covered, but the Great Lakes as a whole is close to 90% covered. Here's a link I found.

Yes definitely!! Can't imagine a frozen over lake. Wonder if people try to go on it. Hope it is blocked off so people don't try to.

Have you seen Ice Truckers? They drive semi trucks over lakes in Canada during winter. No land under them, just few feet thick of solid ice.
