It's because you work with those"germ carrying" children!!! Hope you feel better soon. It's awful to get sick this time of year. Hope you do well with your interview.

Yea..kiddos were sick too and their parents send them to school. Come on! Keep them at home!!! Geez!

Curriculm specialist in either Math or Language Arts for the new curriculm that we are adopting for the next school year. If I get it, no more teaching children but teaching the teachers how to use the new curriculm. Sounds like a lot of pressure so I will ask more questions at the interview if I get the opportunity.

Good luck, Shel! I hope you get it! I'll be rooting for you!

The job sounds sooo scary after the monthly meeting today. Our new principal explained the expectations of the job and the more she explained, the more I went :shock::shock::shock:

I tell myself, "Just do it!!!!!! Show that deaf people can do it!"

Hearing people tend to take the upper levels jobs. I am tired of it..I want the upper level to have a deaf perspective because it is deaf children who we are serving.

Thanks Alex. I am so in my comfort zone with my teaching job and to get out of that is kinda scary, you know?

You can do it Shel, and you will be great at it! A Deaf teacher with lots of classroom experience is the perfect person for the job. It seems scary now, but you'll be able to handle this piece of cake.

The fact that mostly hearing people are in the upper levels of deaf education, both at the residential schools and at the universities, is simply more proof of real audism and the "benevolent master" mentality. Very disgusting. I'm so glad you're going for this and working towards changing the tables.

perfect! your teaching and philosophy will spread at exponential rate!

One thing is that if I get the Math curriculm coordinator job, I will have to go back to school and major in Math which is like *gag* for me. I hope I get the Reading curriculm coordinator job but 3 other people are applying for it and they have highly qualified ceritifications in the field of reading so that's stiff competition for me. Nobody has applied for the Math curriculum job and I have been the chairperson for the Math committee in the past year and got more experience than anyone else in my workplace for learning about the new Math curriculm and I suck in Math! LOL!!!

Go back to school for math?Really? That was my worst subject....oh boy. Maybe I will post homework questions here for help! LMAO!

The jobs require one to become highly qualified in the field of either Language Arts (my strength) or Math (my weakness).

I am highly qualified in Deaf and Elementary Education but not highly qualified in the field of Literacy or Mathemeatics. A requirement of this job is to become high qualified in either fields depending on which of the two I get. I hope to get the Reading curriculumn specialist job and then go back to school in that field because it is a field I am very very comfortable with. However, if it is given to the Reading specialists who are already highly qualified in that field, that means the Math specialist position is left and if I take it, it means back to school IN MATH for me which is new to me. LOL! I will learn but just a new expperience for me. hehehe

Shel,

I am with thewritealex and jiro. i do see something in you for this position. So goood luck!!! So have faith!

MATH???? Lol. You are brave. But I don't understand why you have to get a full degree in it? You're not going to be developing curriculum in differential calculus and chaos theory for elementary schoolers.

I'm sure there are several ADers who will be happy to help you out with the math homework. cough cough DareDevel cough cough paperclip cough cough

I have been thinking about adapting a favorite winter-time "feel-good" soup recipe for my dairy-free needs. IT uses a milk broth. I don't like Soy milk and almond milk has a taste that wouldn't work. Will try rice milk to see if that works.

What about coconut milk?

Why we are suddenly flooded with a huge batch of emotional newcomers who want to share all intimate details of their lives with us.

I need stability!

^^^ Don't worry, Botti! Most of them will get 'bored' and move along. :)
