What are you thinking about? Part IV

I knit a little bit, but do a lot more crocheting. My most recent big project was a beautiful white baby-blanket for a friend of mine. At the moment I'm also on a kick to use up all my cotton yarns, so I've been crocheting a bunch of dishcloths and table mats and coasters and things like that. Some will be little presents for people, some will be for us.

I should post the pictures. Is there a craft topic someplace, or is this thread ok for things like that?

LoveBlue, I was just thinking about you! Do you crochet? I got my fall issue of Crochet magazine and there is a gorgeous blue and white scarf in it. Your name instantly came to mind. You'd love it.

Yes, but I'm still working on an afghan for my car...which I haven't owned since :hmm: 2005?? :hmm: (and I had that car for about 13 years).
Maybe I'll have it finished in time for my room at the old folks home.

And though blue is my favorite color, my winter gear is purple/lavendar. My favorite hat/scarve/mittens are over 25 years old and I just buy coats that will match up with them.

This thread would be okay, or start a new thread in General Chat.

I am a knitter. I love the look of crocheted items, but have never mastered it beyond edgings and such.

My last big project was hand knit sock monkeys for all of my neices and nephews for Christmas. I made them in each kid's fav colors, and then added features like glasses, ponytails, etc. to make them resemble the kid. Kind of like sock monkey meets cabbage patch doll.:giggle: Now 2 of my grown nephews have requested one in their college colors for Christmas this year.

BTW, I have the crochet instructions for the sock monkey, too. They came with my knit instructions. I currently have most patterns stored but will be going after boxes of books within the next week or two. Let me know if you are interested.

Maybe. Let me know what you have. I have about 4 years' worth of 3 different magazines, plus various books, so I THINK I'm pretty well covered - but ya never know!

I'm trying hard to recover from SABLE - "Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy" - so I'm trying HARD not to buy any more yarns until I've made up most of what I already have.

I'm a hoarder when it comes to saving left over skeins of yarn. But I always seem to find a purpose for them, so it kind of reinforces the tendency.:giggle:

I went through magazine that I had been saving since I was a teen with patterns in them a few years back. Cut out the patterns I really wanted and put them in plastic sleeves in a binder. Then I had a bunch of patterns for socks and I really love hand knit socks in the winter. So I combined all of those by making a sizing table for all sizes from infant to men's large with the measurements, stitch numbers, etc. Then I just made a basic sock pattern that could be applied to that, and got rid of all the duplicate patterns I had. Did the same thing for basic sweaters in cardigan, round neck, turtleneck, and polo collar with different sleeve treatments. It really helped to get rid of all the excess. Took some time to accomplish, but it was worth it.

What's your project?

It's a freelance job (I'm a graphic designer). Working on a 300-page Annual Report. (Huge, yes!) This one is far more of a layout project rather than creative, but it's so many pages of layout that it's WORK to make it look good to go to the printers. And I have to do it all in about 10 days.

WOW! That does seem like a lot of work. Have fun!

I will just stick to studying for my test. :giggle:

Doncha just hate those days?

Glass of wine, a bit of relaxing, perhaps a good meal, and you will be ready to go again.
