awww let's try to hit the gym, jiro. No wonder I see lots of older people are working out at the gym due to many reasons of their health issues.

yep... and I'm having health problems that's not for another 20+ years :ugh:

all of it.... is easily prevented by a simple regular workout :ugh: Motivate me, Frisky! Put on your gym clothes and make me chase after you

I work out because i can't stand of suffering sore muscles anywhere in my body. It helps a lot for me.

well - it's not THAT bad but it sucks. I get that sometimes for a long time and I never knew why until recently. My doctor told me that the lab report showed that I have mild obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and significant hypoxia. He said I stopped breathing 24 times for a period of few seconds during sleep and during that time - my brain had 34 arousals which means my brain "woke up" cuz of no breathing even though I'm still sleeping. This is bad especially with high # of arousals during sleep because this leads to feeling exhausted, bradycardia, etc. when waking up. :ugh:

I woke up today feeling like I'm carrying PFH and I started sweating cuz my heart was struggling harder to pump in more oxygen. Now it's leveling off but just need to rest some more soon. Need to finish some tasks for work and then

what can improve my condition is a good regular cardio workout. Looks like Shel and Oceanblue will have to be my gym buddy and get :mad2: at me if I'm being a lazy bum :ugh:

It can lead to many other health issues-- (I used to work for the doctors that handled sleep medicine in my home town) a CPAP (mask) or even oxygen at night can help-- especially if you find exercise isn't enough to help.

Ok, Jiro, thanks for that; I wasn't being nosy because I have something to say about this condition. My wife had this condition. Her heart itself very sound and healthy. She had an electrical problem, that's all. The way it was described to me was one (maybe more?) nerve occasionally "forgot" to tell the heart to beat. During those times, my wife would pass out for less than ten seconds. So she had a pacer type of pacemaker put in. It just activates when/if her heartrate slows down close to 60; it is not a shock/jolt type of pacemaker. She doesn't even know when it activates; tests have shown that it doesn't get activated very often, meaning this device will last for like 15 years..

Now the procedure: This pacemaker was inserted just under the skin below her left shoulder blade and 2 wires routed. She was never sick. The procedure lasted like 40 minutes and, get this, she was awake during the procedure! So, a happy ending here....just like nothing ever happened. She has no diet restrictions. The only thing they cautioned her about was not to strenuously use her left arm above her head (10-15 lbs) because of an improbable possibility of stretching a wire out of place. About the only "healing' process she had to go thru was that cute three inch shallow cut to put the pacemaker in......Btw, there are only 2-3 pacemaker manufacturers in the world and hers is a Boston Scientific product. Oh, and they called her condition bradycardia.

P.S. She had none of the other symptoms you are now going through.

Jiro, start to fill out the application and join the gym.. check for classes whatever you like to try.. don't be shy if you think those classes are sissy. well, some guys are taking classes such as pliates, zumba, kickboxing, varies of workout classes. hey look at the bright side, that you could have meet pretty chicas in there. :D

I hate gym. I never liked it cuz I view it as a cesspool of disease and filth. I mean... being in a room full of sweaty, unclean people touching equipments where you can get fungus (athlete's foot), bacteria, bacillus, staphylococcus, virus (cold, flu)? and breathing in un-circulated, stale air? :ugh:

I prefer the natural way - I used to do hiking every week with friends at this trail near me and I used to jog across George Washington Bridge. I tend to work out during fall and winter but not spring and summer since I function better in cooler weather. I do go to gym for lifting but that's it. I scrub my hand like surgeon afterward.

yeah i feel you about disliking the gym. They offer the antibacerital sprays everywhere in the gym but don't take classes. some classes are not clean so i usually wash my hands arm and face after classes if i remember. I am surprised at myself that I enjoy being around people at the gym than I used to work out on my own. Start with your way of working out, get your ass off from the chair and move, wiggles, and shake your ass now! :)

yep.... one of the recommendations was the oxygen mask but eehhh c'mon. I'm not 60 years old yet

I just need to do cardio workout like I did religiously 2 years ago... that's all because during that time - I was fine despite of sleeping irregularities. Since I started working full-time, I haven't worked out at all. And then I started having more and more health problem after problem - muscle hypertension, lower back problem, arthritis-like in my hands, frequent fatigue, etc... calling in sick several times a year. That's it - I need to find a job away from city

The funny thing is - one of the recommendation says to avoid alcohol and sedatives. No wonder I have natural aversion to those. For a long time - people kept telling me to take sedative (melatonin, NyQuil, etc.) to sleep properly but I refused because I always thought I'd die in sleep :hmm:

im thinking to sign up Muay Thai, need to build the speed is what i wanna...

oh pft - I don't care about the nosy part :) feel free to ask whatever because I get to learn something new from conversation!

but I pray that I don't end up like Dick Cheney (he doesn't have a pulse since the machine is pumping for him)

lol lot of them are skinny. I don't think I've ever seen a Muay Thai fighter who is as big as you.

same for my mom. she works out a couple of 20-min-a-day daily. no more sore or tense muscle. she's in her 50's so yea.

Yeah, there are a lot of skinnies but I want to lose weight from 175 to 160, lose 10. Once i get that 160, i'll keep it that weight stable (160-165). Just need tone my muscles and lean. I need to CUT fats.

Does Cheney have bradycardia? I suggest after you do what you say will reduce your concerns and if you are still not satisfied, at least my post might have engendered some questions you can ask your specialist about.

oh it was somewhat unrelated to your post because I had a conversation about Dick Cheney last nite. He currently has HeartMate II device in his heart because of no available organ transplant. Only 9 living people have it so far......

now that.... is truly a privilege to have to live longer because over 5 million people are dying of heart failure, waiting for available heart. Wondering why the government is spending this much money and effort to keep him alive...... :dunno:

Ok, not related. I am hoping your situation is not related at all to the heart itself. If it has to be something, I hope it is just an electrical problem and if you are treated just like my wife was, you will never know you had a problem, lol.

I edited my long post to you to add that she never had any of the symptoms you have. So let's see what's left after you do what you think you need to do....

Jiro, I am not sure if the sleeping of odd hours can affect your health too. It's MY OPINION, Yes. but check with doctor about it.

I agree. If Jiro does all the other things he says he will do, he might still have the sleep problem...note I say "might".

My little sister has something similar. She says she has Apena and she thinks I may have it.
