We need to ban Taser

yeah but I would not recommend use taser or stun gun on children since their body can't handle that much shock. Adult would handle better for a short period of time. It all denpend on how much volt they using. :)

The taser's volt is really high.

The article said that the police used tasers, pepper spray, and their batons. I think the problem is excessive force, not the taser. He could have died from a combination of being tased and beaten by the batons. Looks to me like they used far too many methods to subdue him.

Yeah, it's too much. Wonderin' if they follow the policy not to use too much, knowin' that it could kill people ? :ugh3:

I don't know exactly what the policy is, but I would think that most police departments have a policy of not using more force than is necessary to restrain a person. If the taser took him down, why the batons and pepper spray. Or if the pepper spray allowed them to wrestle him to the ground and handcuff him, why beat him with a baton and taser him? Just all sounds kind of extreme to me!

Right! And, I don't understand why they are NOT really serve and protect when it's extreme ? It will make them to look bad. It would cause people emotional, protest, and more civil violence.

There are pro and cons about taser, guns, stun gun and others. In today's world, there are many means by which people can protect themselves. When thinking about self-defense, many people only consider martial arts or firearms. In truth, these are only two options from an array of self-defense mechanisms available. Through increased use in recent years, the advantages and disadvantages of stun guns, tasers, and pepper spray have become clear. All three items offer non-lethal means of protection, but one of them may be more appropriate than the others in a given situation. It is important to investigate the pros and cons of each product before deciding which may be the most viable option for you.

Stun Guns

Pros- Stun guns do not rely on pain to stop the attacker, but instead simply stun the attacker, so that their voluntary muscle control ceases temporarily. Both pepper spray and a taser will inflict severe pain upon the attacker; the stun gun does not. Stun guns are inexpensive and small-they can be held in the palm of your hand. The shock will not transmit to you if you are in contact with the attacker, so it is very difficult to accidentally use it on yourself during an attack.

Cons- The biggest downside to a stun gun is that you must be close enough to your attacker to touch him. This will mean, consequently, that he will be close enough to reach out and grab you as well.

Tasers

Pros- With a taser, you can disable an attacker from up to 15 feet away. This means that you do not have to be close enough to touch the attacker, as required with a stun gun. Tasers are commonly used by the police force, and much research has been completed on their efficiency. They are an effective means of self-defense, especially when used against someone who threatens use of a knife or blunt weapon, as you are able to maintain a safe distance from them.

Cons- Some people do not like the idea of using tasers because they deliberately cause pain to the attacker. For many people, the idea of shocking a person to incapacitation is hardly appealing. While quite rare, there has been the occasional report of death from taser shock, increasing the potential liability when using this weapon. These cases of death, however, generally occurred when the attacker had a history of health problems (such as heart trouble). People who use the taser can become additionally harmed, if the assailant regains their senses and removes the probes in order to continue their attack.

But I use pepper spray that works too

Pepper spray

Pros- Pepper spray is effective from 6-8 feet away, giving plenty of distance between victim and attacker. Pepper spray is a non-lethal product that will render the attacker virtually harmless for anywhere from 20-30 minutes. Once an attacker washes his face off with water, the burning sensation will, for the most part, cease. Pepper spray is available in many different containers-small canisters can be attached to key rings. Pepper spray is inexpensive and widely available.

Cons- Unfortunately, problems can arise when using pepper spray, especially when the wind direction does not cooperate. If you are attacked outdoors on a windy day, the spray may blow back into your own face when you aim for your attacker. Also, if your attacker sees the stream of spray coming, he may be able to avoid it. Pepper spray comes with a locking mechanism on the trigger to prevent accidental discharges; as a downside, this mechanism can sometimes be difficult to disengage.

Now that you know the pros and cons of these non-lethal self-defense tools, it is up to you to decide which one would be the best choice for you to use. Much of this depends on what you are comfortable with handling. Be sure to test each product to make sure that you know how to properly operate it once you buy it. The worst thing you could do is to pull out your self-defense tool in a jam, and then not be able to operate it. The assailant might become incensed enough to use your self-defense tools against you, once they have taken advantage of your inability to operate the equipment.

We need to ban Taser because alot of people already died from it. Two teens died from it in MD recently. Alot of people have metal in their body, deaf people have cochlear implant, some people have pacemaker. Do you think it is safe for use it to taser people with metal in their body? It scary me! Taser is dangerous to anyone.

Yep I agree. tsk tsk

ah you have a point about CI that is a good possiblity of the risk I can ask my doctor to find out more deep on the issue of Taser and stun gun with any affect on CI risk. SMile.

It has not been determined if TASERS killed that person. Do you know how TASERS works??? GUNS are more deadly and lethal than tasers. Jeeebus.

Actually if the person who got tasered has certain medical conditions, tasers can be deadly.

Absolutely. I have a dear friend with a pacemaker/defibrillator. A taser could be lethal for him, and I don't think that police officers are in the habit of checking medical alert I.D bracelets prior to firing. However, I do imagine that they are quicker to taser than they would be to fire their gun because the general consensus is that a taser is not deadly.

I wouldn't say that tasers should be banned, just used differently... not on everything.

Police officers (and security guards or whoever) have been trained on the proper use of guns, batons, etc... but they don't seem to be properly educated on the uses of tasers.

They were probably taught how to aim, but not to use proper judgment.

point-counterpoint

While it is clear that you wrote all the stuff that is being siad about tasers, it is important for indivuals to go to the tasers manufacterer web site and read for themselves how it should be used. It has been obvious that cops who have used tasers on people only to have them die afterwards do not know how to correctly use them, they :squint:use them improperly, AND still deny the fact that tasers are NOT a safe and alternative mode of ...whatever. It is obvious that cops these days have no skills in subdueing a person without causing them great harm. Perhaps they need to re-learn how to do that.

There is a difference between taser gun and a stun gun two things. But yes they are both dangerous just as a gun is. All of them have risk factors.

"Today, in what clearly is a law-enforcement revolution, tens of thousands of police officers see the TASER as a godsend to them and also the military use it too. So, The gun shoots two barbed fish hooks into the body, bringing 50 thousand volts. Most of the time, the suspect goes down--and the cop's revolver stays put.

TASER Intenational is adamant the weapon simply lacks the power to kill or injure, the TASER's shock can not injure the heart: "If we knew there was a problem, we would certainly want to disclose that. We've researched it and have not found it." When a person get taser or stun by that type of gun and died. You know the person is either on drugs, drinking habit or have a weak health can cause the death in the first place. But a healthy person can surivie it.

A stun gun is the most effective non-lethal weapon. You only need to touch an attacker with one of our stun guns for three to five seconds. The high voltage shock will immobilize them for five to ten minutes. The attacker will lose balance, muscle control and our stun gun’s high voltage shock will create confusion and disorientation. No harm done after the shock wear off.
