Most riots are localized and they don't spread to predominantly white neighborhood, also possibly, many of white families are armed and MO is very gun friendly state.

That article says that that store owner was hit the hardest

If I'm MO voter so I will not vote him ever.

Those protesters need to take a page out of MLK's book:

You must have missed the whole LA Riots crisis....that clearly wasn't the case. Any time a situation gets out of hand, people get killed...usually innocent, and they have no guns because their state equates firearms with criminals instead of pesky Constitutional rights....people can't get guns to defend themselves in a state like CA for example, where you need a lawyer just to get an interview with the chief. It's when things go bad quickly that people realize how vulnerable they are....but here's one cop that actually "gets it:"

“I’m Sheriff David Clarke, and I want to talk to you about something personal: Your safety. It’s no a longer a spectator sport. I need you in the game. But are you ready? With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You could beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed or you can fight back. But are you prepared? Consider taking a certified safety course in handling of firearms, so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?" And the from Washington Post no less.....

I'm miss LA riot? No, LA riot didn't spread from South LA/Koreatown into other neighborhoods like Hollywood, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, etc. There are some small riots in other US cities like Atlanta, especially limited to predominantly black neighborhood. I don't say that all riots aren't spreading into other neighborhoods but I actually said most riots are not spreading like from predominantly black neighborhood into predominantly white neighborhood.

I believe that you can buy guns (especially shotgun and rifle) for your protection at private properties, including home and businesses but you only need permit to carry guns (open carry or concealed). Some businesses have guns for their protection.

I don't agree about police chief make decision to approve the permit due to strong political nature from cities, so it is better for sheriff to make decision with gun permits, not police chief.

Could you explain a little bit why you feel a Sheriff should be the one making the decision and not a Police Chief?

Is it because the Sheriff is an elected position and they are sworn to uphold the United States Constitution?

Most police chiefs are anti-gun and sided with city council, also they don't care about US Constitution since most sheriffs are pro-gun rights and uphold the US Constitution.

Second question, exactly, yes, that what I means.

In my state, sheriff make decision to approve the gun permit.

On this I do agree. I don't think a police chief should be the decider on who gets a permit. Power corrupts and these people act like the voice of God. The chief in Salem told an applicant that got promoted to armed detail that he wouldn't give him a license to carry - period, job related or not. I would have sued, but the guy in this case just quit his job.

The chief in my city was also an ass (and French too, ironically). What I hear from his people is that he refuses to give anyone carry licenses out right....and that is a violation of the our Constitutional rights. This is what prevents people in CA and other restrictive (typically Liberal) states from getting a gun to defend themselves. If you're of age, mentally sound, with no criminal record, it's your absolute right and you shouldn't need to sit down with the chief to discuss anything....

Sadly, it's events like these recent shootings and the crowd out of control that remind people how foolish it is to trust others to protect you.

Well, I am glad things are calming down in Ferguson finally. I also read that there will be a Grand Jury investigating the shooting. I do pray they remain impartial, and if this police officer is found guilty or innocent, that no violence breaks out again after the verdict.

I do not believe it was very "helpful" for the rioters to be attacking people that had absolutely nothing at all to do with this shooting. It also was not very "helpful" to stir the pot and race bait.

Jiro or Foxrac, I am curious what would happen to a witness if FBI finds him/her giving a false information after the document is signed by the witness. Imprisoned and/or fine? In other words, a witness is required to sign his/her name after the info is given to a law enforcement by the witness to state that it's the truth.

obstruction of justice. making false statements. and perjury if he/she lied under oath.

he/she would get arrested for it.

A 19 year old woman was shot and killed by the San Jose police on 8/15/14 who thought she had a uzi when all she was holding was a 12volt Black n Decker drill. The person calling 911 said the woman was yelling she was going to shoot her family and he added "that she is bi polar and she says she has a machine gun, but it looks like a cordless drill to me." The police arrived told her to drop the weapon and when she didn't one of the cops shot her. I guess the police are going to have to give these idiots they give guns to a crash course in what a gun looks like and what a cordless drill looks like. Before I even heard what she was carrying I could tell from the picture it was a cordless drill. Is it me or are we hearing about cops killing someone who is unarmed almost weekly?

There's a number of things going on: this zero tolerance policy of guns, no one is taking a moment to see if it's an actual gun, a toy, a cell phone or a hair dryer. And no one is stepping back to assess the situation - is this a child with a toy, did this person hear/understand what was said, could we have defused the situation differently? Everyone just jumps to conclusions without thinking. Remember we now live in a day when a five year old child gets suspended for crayon drawing of a gun at an art class, wearing an NRA shirt (or U.S. flag shirt), or kissing another child innocently. People are so quick to spring into action that no one uses their head - or basic common sense anymore.

If the officer was actually assaulted by Brown, he could legally shoot Brown BUT what if Brown handed up after assault and flee, could the beaten officer shoot him anyway?

What's your opinion?
