Shit.....Alan Greenspan is now a certified 1st class asshole for proposing that the Social Security benefits be cut to balance the budget deficits.....

I'd rather say repeal the Bushit tax cuts and raise the fucking taxes on the rich above 200,000. Plus closing the swiss-cheese loopholes that let the rich get away without paying taxes.

Balancing the budget on the backs of the retired people who have paid into the system for a very long time, along with people nearing retirement age and making plans to collect what they had put into the SS system, is just plain fucking stupid .....

Not to mention it might cut into the SSI/SSA for the truly disabled.

Also Bush's proposal to let investing part of SS taxes in private stock funds smacks of the Enron mess and is pretty risky not to mention illogical :P......

Now that is another issue that Dumbya is gonna piss off a lot of voters!

Article:

(CNN) -- Democratic presidential contenders on Wednesday condemned Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's warning that future cuts in Social Security and Medicare spending will be necessary.

"If I'm president, we're simply not going to do it," Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, said during a campaign stop in Ohio, one of 10 states holding Democratic presidential contests next week.

Kerry's chief rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, called Greenspan's proposal an "outrage."

Distancing himself from Greenspan, President Bush said he did not believe current retirees' benefits should be cut, but restated his support for allowing younger workers to invest a portion of their Social Security taxes in private accounts.

I know 9 people who use SSA/SSI, never bother look for job.
So sad.

No, illustrator, Greenspan wants to throw your retirement benefits away.

Sablecort, you're damn right that
Greenspan is an IDIOT for doing this
(Sigh !)

He should focus on increasing
taxes to these rich people only.
(this is the simple way to resolve)

No, thats NOT sad because I know others
going through very very difficult times...

for example, a deaf woman
friend of mine told me she was very very
excited when she got a phone call from
human resources recruiter asking for her...
then this deaf woman has a hearing daughter
who answered that phone and her hearing daughter
explained to the recruiter that her mother who
applied for the job is Deaf and
is looking forward for an interview appointment
but then the recruiter got very SHOCKED
discovering that applicant happened to be
DEAF !! All of sudden, the recruiter quickly
claimed that the position is already filled-in...
and then hung up. This happened many
and many times.... So thats why she GAVE UP
looking for jobs... Because NO ONE Wants to
hire her because she's DEAF !!!

Please STOP blame on any deafies with SSI/SSDI !!!!

We OUGHT To blame these hearing recruiters
and hearing managers for refusing to
hire these deafies.

Well he had been cutting interest rates pretty damn well under Clinton and the economy was rollicking pretty good even the dot-com boom.

Since the recession and Dumbya's selection, Greenspan must have been sniffing too much of that elephant dung lately. Now he's advocating these cuts in SS benefits?!

If FDR rose from the grave and heard what happened to his baby, he would have beaten the shit out of Bush n Greenspan for proposing that lunatic move.

Gawd, The Dems got a HUGE pile of elephant mess to clean up after November (if we ever win the elections and ride a few Dem coattails to DC)

Well, it's hard saying. Because they are tired of someone to being advantage.

Now, on subject - I believe that SS has reason to cut off for retired. Maybe, most current old people don't have much degree in past more than present. I guess? It seem, there are many people with excellent degree who able to get nice benefit from the companies. :dunno:

i aint try to being advantage. i need it for my living and support my education while i go to school.

I hopefully that SS is going to cut off for retired- Old people only, but cant blame them for being old and cant able to work for some reasons like health.

My dad's hands have bad sore everyday and im impressed that he kept workin. He is indeed old! :ugh2:

I mean, someone who isn't in school. Don't worry about it, mate.

That is terrible because they took our money from our pay check biweekly. Why can't we have our retirement benefits since we work too many years ? How can we make the living if we do not have any retirement benefits ?

Interesting that I happen to paused while flipping thru the tv channels and seeing Greenspan addressing himself before a congressional panel recently...one of the connoctions I got of Greenspan...is seeing how 'old' he really looked...which brought a perplexing question to my mind...'how could he even consider taking some of these so-called ideas of his for recommendation or enacting?' ...WHEN this frail-looking person seem to have gone beyond the age of retirement himself??? Although, I believe it's time for him to step down and get out and let someone else younger with fresh stimulating ideas and actions that would benefit this country!

Sable, honestly, you didnt expect to see that money did you? I'm 26, and i doubt i'll see it. Bush really fucked things up, and now other people have to try and fix things before he fucks things up more. So, if i never see it, oh well, i'm planning for tomorrow as if its not there. If it is there when i retire, then i'll be able to retire early. Meanwhile i'm investing in my 401k, and buying stocks of the company i work for, plus hopefuly i have some sort of pention. Those 3 things plus some savings, i should be able to retire by 55, with social security, for sure by 55, possibly earlier. The person you should be mad at is bush, we were on track to paying off the national debt, and having extra money for social security and other programs that could really help america, but that was all pissed away, even before 9/11.
