I agree.
I tried to explain that in other threads about cueing but either I didnt explain it clearly or it wasnt taken seriously.
It wasn't taken seriously.
I agree.

No, English through print, and sometimes oral skills, and ASL are a Bi-Bi atmosphere.
Perhaps you should take that 16-20 hours of which you speak and use it to inform yourself of Bi-Bi educational options. And, the fact that you claim that anyone can become fluent in CS in 16-20 hours is enough to produce skeptism, in and of itself. Always be wary of quick fixes. Perhaps that is another reason that CS, despite a 40 year history, is still not a widely used mode.
Now once again, let's get backtothe topic at hand rather than hikacking this thread as a way to spam CS claims.
Many of us understand the concept about CS, as it's easy to learn like loml tells us, even if we do not use it, so I doubt the problem is misinformation and fear. Though it gives me creeps to think about a deaf club where everyone use CS, as CS looks like a zombie version of spoken english. It probably are, too?
I have taken many more than 16-20 in my quest to become informed. Waht you are asking is not that I, or anyone else become informed, but that we become Cuers.
That is how you choose to see it. Again a differing view point from me, but that is nothing new.
Do not try and put your spin on my information jillio. I have said over and over on this board that CS can be learned in 16-20 hours and fluent in 6 months.
And, once again, that is reason fro skepticism in and of itself.
Why would you want to learn a system you would not even use with your clients? Why not, thought you believed in a full tool box, or perhaps you are not a life learner. Ever thought maybe your clients might be interested. Then again, considering that you have no experience as a CS user, and you are constantly negative regarding CS, probably it is just as well.
Firstly, as I am working on my Ph.D., I would venture to say that I am much more a lifelong learner than you yourself. Secondly, I began gathering knowledge on CS back in 1987 beginning with the works of Hilde Schleshinger and Kathryn Meadows. Thirdly, if my clients are interested in CS, they are perfectly capable of asking that it be provided as a service. To date, none have done so, and I refuse to believe that it is because they "fear" CS as you so claim. They are simply not interested in a redundant method.
No, I don't have any experience as a CS user, and thet is the way of the majority of both the deaf population and the hearing population that deals with the deaf on a daily basis. The fact that it has been around for 40 years, is not supported through empirical evidence, and it is not widely used as a mode of either teaching literacy or for communication speaks for itself. Your promotion of CS is based on the financial gain that is stood to be gained from your organization, not on any ethical advocacy efforts for deaf children. Your advocacy is limited to that which is supported by the organization which stands to benefit finanacially from that advocacy. It is not advocacy, it is a blatant attempt at salesmanship.
I share information regarding CS jillio. Cued speech and ASL is Bi-Bi education.
Then please list those Bi-Bi programs that actively use CS as part of their teaching methodology. English and ASL are bilingual/bicultural. As CS is not a language, it does not fall into the bilingual category; as it has not cultural base other than oralists, it does not fall into the bicultural category.
This is beyond rediculous with you. I have posted this information before. You want it.... go look for it.
Can't do it, huh?
I am not doing it for you jillio. AllDeaf has a very user friendly search engine.
Can't do it, huh?
Actually jillio, looks to me like you are the one who cannot do it. Perhaps one day you will learn.
Can'
t do it, huh? Come on, just name ONE Bi-Bi program that utilizes CS and ASL as their methodology. What about providing all of the information to the parent that started this thread. You hijacked it with your promotion of CS, so lets have that info.
jillio - Strange that you continue on about this when your answer is right there for you.
I provided infromation regarding Bi-Bi, ASL and Cued Speech. You had the option of becoming involved or not. I share accurate information regarding CS, from the perspective and experience of a user of Cued Speech.

No I do not agree Kaitin. Cued Speech is a system, that provides access to the phonemes of spoken language to learn English, French, Spanish, Dutch etc.

loml...so u dont believe that ASL nor English should be mastered before one learns CS?
Are u promoting for CS to be used as language development? Kinda risky isnt it since according to one thread, where many deaf people said they have tried learning it but didnt work for them. I wouldnt put a system that didnt work for everyone as a means for language development jsut like with the oral-only approach.
Use CS as a teaching tool to help with reading and writing makes more sense.

haha ... well you better look at me like a deer in the headlights too!!! haha I'm not familair with Bi-Bi program but only saw those word in all deaf but I didn't look up and study what does that mean "yet". Ofc I'm old and behind what's going on! I know some friends who teach at HSHS and one of them is my very good friend, I will email her and ask her about bi-bi program. Would you care explain what is that? I'm curious what school does your son attending? I went to several grammer schools.
He is 11 sunshine currently enroled in mainstream with special classes. I asked the teachers if they had any bi-bi programs and they looked at me like a deer in the headlights and said what is a bi-bi program. I was shocked that they never heard of such a thing,
