Time to STOP! Enough is Enough!

And my very strong and overbearing (at times) feelings about this topic certaining derives from my abusive childhood, personal experiences in helping women and even children who experienced some of the worst sexual crimes against them, and my personal experience as a rape victim.

And most of all...because I have two daughters. The thought that this country condones sexual language and concepts in which women are so often the gender that is placed in the second category of subhumanism pisses me off.

I've seen things with my very own eyes that make this cheapshot ass of a movie like a nursery school. The world is much worse. Much.

I agree!

We should ban Hostel!

We should also ban Hostel: Part II, Hostel: Part III, Turistas, Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Feast, Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, Feast 3: The Happy Finish, From Dusk Til Dawn, From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter, Bordello of Blood, Zombie Strippers!, The Hills Have Eyes, The Hills Have Eyes II, The Hitcher, Vacancy, Vacancy 2: The First Cut, Wrong Turn, Wrong Turn 2: Dead End...

They're violent! They degrade women! They degrade men! They degrade sex! They're gory! They're just plain awful! They all should be banned! ;)

I know this is sarcasm but I have to agree that banning ANY movie is silly and counterproductive to the Freedom of Speech that we enjoy. If you don't like something, tune it out.

And before you start blaming men for the degradation of women, hold your fire. You're not going to make it easy to resolve this issue by singling out others or issuing threats or whatnot.

I had watch Hostel and it's not really bad but very disgusted, it's just movie.

Because they've missed the point of my thread. Hostel was just an example...I was watching that movie which set off my pov that media in general degrades women (yes, men sometimes but mostly women) - and it's become acceptable and even glorified at times. And THAT's why I'm jumping up and down on my soap box ranting like some mad woman on acid.

Now I get it...I've noticed that in alot of horror films, they used women alot when the murder scene comes up.

In certain movies as Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm street, The Grudge, The Ring, and many others I dont think there is even a single horror movie that shows when only man or men gets killed...I guess it's how it works with hollywood thinking it's more scary to see a woman getting killed I dunno. I assume thats stupid but I guess thats how it is.

Yep... that's one of the laws of Hollywood!

The victim is always the female. ;)

Well.. If that's the case.. if you think about it:
The stereotyping of males is generally that they die retaliating, or "with a grunt" as I like to call it. After all, it's masculinity. What kind of a guy screams when they are about to die? Who likes to watch constant scenes non-screaming guys die fighting their antagonist villain?

When women die, it's always the bloodcurling scream or yell, cries for letting themselves or their baby live, etc. It helps keeps the movies interesting, I suppose.

Ever thought about that?

I think it has to do with women being the weaker sex. Hollywood capitalizes on that which is a shame but then again there r movies like Thelma and Louise in which women are portrayed as the stronger sex.

What I reallllllyyyy hate r those music videos that portray women as ho's or bitches and the men just use them as sex object. Those really turn my stomach more than anything.

Because you are not interest to about to annoy or bad. I don't like interest about to complaint. I understand i don't want to frustrated. i don't like frustrated. I understand I am said enough stop it. i bother you I am important to be positive.

Well that is a better suited justification than trying to isolate the movie genre. I really think all that is unnecessaty and full of shit too. Why people would want to listen to music that slanders women in that manner is beyond me. *rolls eyes*

bottom line is all hollywood want to see th HOT SEXY FIGURE WITH GIGANTIC BOOBS. that is IT!

Except that women aren't really the weaker sex. That's a misconception that continues to spread throughout society (not blaming you though).

Think of it: Women have the power to withhold sex from men and drive us insane. That's a sign of a STRONGER sex, not a weaker sex.

We can have the choice not to watch this sickening, gory movie. Why watch it, even you knew that would happen to you?

Stop being a double edged sword.

Watch "Zack and Miri make porno", you will see a penis in there. D:

Oh yes, I recall of a scene. Bended over guy to collect a drink from the refrigerator door and reveals sagging testicles and hairy ass.

Not a good sight

Baywatch does the same thing. Women running down the beach with their boobs bouncing all over the place.

Hollywood do sexualize men and women in movies, commercials, as well as music and lyrics that are degrading.

It is what sells.

That is why they have child locks on TV and programmings.

It is time to stop our society's acceptance of degrading and belittling women! I'm sick of it...and why have we women become so immune and numb to the fact that we are treated like second-class citizens?

Look at the media- movies, magazines...what-have-yous. They say "sex sells." That's BS. If sex sells, then there would be more of women AND men. But what sells is degrading the bodies and spirits of women.

Directors like Eli Roth deserves to rot in hell.

I was watching the film "Hostel." And these college guys were making vulgar comments about women. I was offended...and the dude next to me says, "well, that's how college guys act."

Excuse me, but that does not make it okay. And I know for a fact that not all guys do that kind of degradation. I was offended because here I am, a woman, and it is now deemed "okay" for me to accept that those remarks are typical.

I am a woman. I am human. I am not some sex object where men can post votes on whether or not they would "hit it" and make vulgar comments about my body, etc.

Where does it end? Why do women allow this to happen?

YOU'RE sick of it!? Then quit watching it. Quit listening to it. I notice you bash pornographic movies repeatedly, stating that women are doing it against their better will. First of all, I can prove that particular statement is inaccurate. Secondly, why do you watch pornographic movies if it bothers you? Again, quit watching it. You also state that "Gentlemen's Clubs" are degrading to women. I have met one woman out of more than 1,000 that said she wishes she works somewhere else. HELLO!? Gentlemen's Clubs bother you? Don't go.

"Sex sells"? Uh, yeah, sex sells. Otherwise, there would be no adult magazines, no Gentlemen's Clubs, no adult movies, no ladies showing off their awesome bodies in skimpy bikinis. I'd be willing to bet that if you had a body like these ladies do or if you get it as much as these ladies do, you wouldn't be making these comments.

You were watching the film "Hostel". Uh, that's your choice. You chose to watch it.

"I am not some sex object where men can post votes on whether or not they would "hit it" and make vulgar comments about my body, etc." If its about your body, then you have a very good point. However, I see no reference to your body.

I am absolutely amazed how you continue to knock adult movies, Gentlemen's Clubs, and "vulgar comments about women's bodies", etc. and yet you don't make one comment about male-degrading entertainment for women.

Watch your tone. If you personally attack or speak to me directly, using this forum as a portal, I will report you to the moderators.

It's my opinion on a topic that matters to me. I respect others' opinions (and I love hearing different povs) but I will not tolerate people personally using my opinion and bashing me for it. Disagree, fine. I'll respect it. But I will not put up with rude remarks targeted at me as it is in this case.

that would be stereotyping women to be helpless and weak, it doesnt 'keeps film interesting - i disagree, i would find if a woman role is fearless , even pyschopathic id find her (and the film) interesting .....but then again Hollywood do twist that around to way it would reinforce that this behaviour is abnormal, even unacceptable.....
