Thunderstorms, tornadoes, a possible derecho for Midwest

It is sad. It's been raining here all day, since early this morning, and it's still going. There's several thousands of people in central-south IL without power as I type this. Winds have been recorded as high as 71 MPH here in IL, but since it's still early, that could change. Multiple inches of rain has been dumped already in several places. Crazy day thus far.

Update: Omaha, Nebraska got 5.3 inches of rain yesterday, a new record for that city. As for IL, Chicago will get 1-2 inches, but south of Chicago could see 2-4 inches, with the possibility of up to 6 inches possible.

we care more about that poor horse than weather in Chicago because nothing happens in there

There was a HECK of a storm here last night. The winds ripped through my bedroom, knocking over things and bringing down two curtains. I was sure a tornado was right outside.

We can care about both the horse and weather , there is not much we can do to stop the weather , but if we know a huge storm is coming you can try to save as many pets as possible.

WOW! What state do you live in, I am glad you did not get hurt.

Missouri got hit hard. They had 30,000 customers without power at one point.

Yep. Ours too, for a while. I woke up just before my alarm was due to go off at 4:30 a.m. and noticed the clock was flashing, which signifies power outage.

Yes. IL has people down south (about 5,200 customers) without power, but I'm sure that's already been taken care of. Surprisingly we didn't get hit with a tornado or two, as those are quite common here. As far as I've been able to find, the strongest winds recorded was in Nebraska.

I heard there was hail the size of softballs. :eek3:
Where was this, do you know?
I don't care what anyone says, Global Warming is real.

Actually they were the size of baseballs. They were in Nebraska, and smashed a bunch of windows on cars and in houses. People got caught in that storm, and were stuck when they started smashing windows. I believe some hit Iowa, too, but mainly Nebraska.
