This May Sound Crazy

:welcome: here and enjoy AD! :D

hope everything ok

Thank you all. I don't think there is a Doctor or anyone who would willingly destroy 80 or 90% of someone's hearing. So I think I'm screwed for now. And I'm sorry to be mentioning this on this board, but I would love to trade places with anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing. If I did not have to hear anymore, life would be easier because then I could be around people & society. The ability to hear is no picnic for me. I don't have hyperacusis, but I do supposedly have soft sound sensitivity.

welcome jen

i am sorry aobut your condition and no one would help ya
i hope things will be better for ya if someone find a problem for your condition
and solve it

Thank you, that's what I'm wishing for is some kind of permanent solution. If it can't be cured than I want to not hear at all. There is no middle ground with me. I either want it to go away or my hearing to go away.

Soft sound sensitivity syndrome

Hi Jen,
I did a search on the internet for SSSS and came across your posting. I have the same thing. I have had it for as long as I can remember, and the typical eating and breathing sounds cause me severe anxiety, as well as people dragging their feet, pronouncing the letter "S", the chrip of Nextel phones, the slamming (or simply the closing) of car doors, etc. Please hang in there and know that you are not alone. Have you explored the chat group in Yahoo, led by Marsha Johnson (the person who came up with the name for this)? I recently joined and she seems to have access to anti-hearing aids, which tune out some frequencies. Have you tried these yet?
