This is Insane, Taking Selfies While Driving

What about deaf drivers? Some of them make video recording of messages in ASL while driving. I noticed a few of them at deaf vlog websites. Do you think it's also dangerous?

Do you really have to ask if this is dangerous ??

The only difference between signing to a front passenger and signing to a smartphone in the holder with a suction cup on the dashboard or windshield while driving is to press start and stop recording on the smartphone.

You gotta be joking ! What an idiotic thing to do ,how do you steer the driving wheel while signing ???

I am confused. First of all, are you an ASLer? If not, no wonder why you ask that stupid question.

It's like another stupid question, "How do you drive when you drink coffee?", "How do you drive when you smoke a cigarette?" or "How do you drive when you change car radio stations?".

Anyone who says don't sign while driving must be out of his/her mind.

So guilty of it, but not when I'm on the road! Besides, it's gotten a little old and the practice is pretty rampant out there.

I want to know how you do drive are while you're signing with both hands ?
You would also have be able to read the other person hands and that mean your eyes will taken off the road.

That's just stupid stupid stupid..or having a VP conversation while driving. Come on!

We've had many drivers brought into the ER involved in car accidents from texting and a few brought in taking pictures ( not only selfies but pictures with their friends leaning in! ) You'd be surprised what idiots can accomplish.... The worst part it's usually in the places most known for accidents! Like, really guys? You took a picture in an area called "malfunction junction" and on the Howard Frankland Bridge? Idiots....

The guy in the second utube is taking his hand off the wheel and eyes off the road , I am right. It's dangerous to sign and drive , you just prove my point !
Uh-huh no, I prove my point that they didn't cause a car accident while they did that. If you heard that deaf drivers got car accidents because of signing while driving regardless of video recording, POST IT HERE to prove your point.

You would have to be a complete idiot taking a photo of yourself or even recording a video of yourself WHILE driving. Period.

Dear Abby: Sign language and driving don't mix | recordonline.com

This web site said in California it's legal to use ASL AS LONG IS DOES NOT infer with a person driving . I do not know what the law is in other states , so if a person is not able to drive safely while using ASL in Calf. they can get a ticket. I do know you have to have at least one hand on the steering wheel to drive a car safely. You never told me how you do drive a car while using ASL. Do you use only one hand to sign or both hands?

99.9% of the time... signing with one hand. There are plenty evidences in the video clips I provided. I have been driving for 38 yrs and I still sign to a passenger while keeping my eyes on the road most of the times like them in the videos. My deaf passengers/my hearing kids understood what I said.

The link you posted talked about the deaf driver who turned the head to the passenger too often or too long while signing and driving. That means that the driver had no judgement. BTW, there was an old thread about signing while driving. I made some posts there.

I do carry ASL conversations while driving. Never had a problem. I think it is hard for people who aren't fluent in ASL to understand.
