'This is Alabama...We Speak English'....

For the most part, no. People only need to know a few words in English to read some of the signs such as the Stop sign. Most signs are one or two words. Pretty simple, really. And most immigrants who drive and don't know much English can read these signs because they learn about these signs in driver's education first anyway.
I don't think most immigrants attend drivers' ed here.

South Carolina highways use electronic message boards with lots of information about Amber alerts, detours, hazardous conditions, road closures, work schedules, accidents, ID/insurance/registration checks, street names, and emergency instructions. It's a lot more than a few words.

ENGLISH PLEASE! Somebody needs to hurry up and start drafting a bill to make English (and ASL) an official language for America.

There never has been any official language here.

Well, while you're at it, why not come up with an official race, too? J/K

lol! wondering how to even begin with that since America's original inhabitants are the Indians/Cavemen/Migrants roamed from Africa to Europe to Asia into America by crossing Bering Strait (at that time - it was crossable by foot). oh and the Polynesians.

and then Mayflower...

mind-boggling :dizzy:

Yeah, and I think that's why its been mind-boggling in the same way you are talking about (above) over the years to get English as our official language.....

no not really. Look at any other countries - there's no "official race"... just official language. You and I are writing in English. People talk in English. Book, newspaper, tv, movie, etc. are in English.

so it's time we start declaring English as an official language for America!

I have never understood why English hasn't become our official language whereas the vast majority of other countries have their predominant language as the official one. Maybe I should do some digging into it.....
