Is anyone being affected by this storm moving across New England? My job actually closed today and Saturday but right now it's still quiet. I'm told it's supposed to get much, much worse later tonight.

Are you well stocked on food, water, household supplies, meds, gas in the car, and batteries? Do you have any elderly neighbors you need to check on?

Other than that, I hope you stay cozy indoors for a couple days. :)

My brother lives in Connecticut, so he might get some of the storm, too. He recently broke his right elbow, and since he lives alone everything is more of a hassle to do until it heals. No snow shoveling for him!

Well obviously, I'm not without power(at this point in time), but about 5k people have lost it already and they talking about people on the cost have been ordered to evacuate.

I plan on clearing the drive and front walk in about two hours. Another run depending on the buildup before I go to sleep, perhaps.

I hope you are safe and sound. I must say, people will be better prepared for this than in 78.

Unfortunately, the people affected by Sandy in NY, etc may be hit the hardest.

Boy that's the last thing those people need....

Our neighbor was going to do food shopping yesterday but when she showed up, the store was so crazy she turned around and drove straight home. You know the odd thing is I heard the Twinkies were the hot item. Of all the things people shop for...emergency Twinkies?

Last night, I went to Burton's in Burlington for dinner because there is a Market Basket next door and I could shop before the storm. All through dinner, the parking lot was jammed. I managed to get out with my provisions pretty easily and stopped for gas on the way home. The first gas station was sold out at about 7:30. Everyone was stocking up so I don't blame them for turning back.

If I we don't lose power, I'd say two days and we are back to normal. In 78 it was actually three storms so people didn't get a break for about a week.

I'm sipping a glass of boreuax and watching the news as I write this.

Well, first pass as pretty brutal. I'd say I picked up about a foot of snow so far. By tomorrow, there will probably be another two feet waiting for me. I'm one of the few guys on the block with a snow blower and the neighbors will be expecting help. It's not like they really talk to me or anything, but it's the neighborly thing to do.

Nice picture, Jiro.

we are getting dumped on here as well in ottawa...roads are a mess and you'd think most of us canadians can handle it ..but some people forget how to drive when it starts snowing..I roll my eyes when I see people without snow tires trying to drive in this or really low cars and then they get stuck..like really?

Most of the time you guys in Canada laugh at us(and rightly so). I'm grabbing another bottle of wine and putting the DVD, The Day After Tomorrow. Why fight it??

It's already down to 60 degrees here. Could be a rough night.

Oh wow, I hope that you will keep warm and safe.

It is cold outside in here, even I'm in the south.

Wow, I hope he can find someone to help. :(

my mom picked me up and was just laughing as I got in the car! I actually asked what a snow day was too...when I was in elementary school we didn't have snow days ..except once it was like el nino and it was an ice storm and there was no power so no school..but that was it. When I was in MD I had like snow weeks sometimes ...hahaha
