The PS3 Forum: Updates and News

Wicked update! Firmware 2.53 is out. Now I can finally watch porn on a big screen. Thank you Sony.

No problem. Perhas in the future there will be some...for now the orginal price on the PS3 is $400, the 80GB model which is now Sony's primary focus, as there is also a limited edition of the 160GB bundle with Uncharted : Drake's Fortune included, for $500. Thou however neither of them have the ablitiy to play PS2 games.

Sony cut the backwards compatalibity out due to the costs of manufacturing so yeah, it sucks.

While I admit I am lucky I already have mine which is rare so...there is still a chance u could get the preowned console from somewhere such as Gamestop and Amazon.com.

Good luck.

Nods, very well. I'll keep that mind, thanks.

With that reason, why I did ask because of it's for my brother, so I want a present for him. :)

Oh well...

Heh knew there will be another CoD game based on the modern warfare again...finally CoD4 fanboys wont have to whine about CoD : world at war (what really annoys me is that they keep calling it CoD5, which it isnt.)

I assume that Call of Duty : world at war may possibly be the final chapter in the WW2 story since we fougth all the enemies from the japanese to the italians to the germans and got to the very last part of the story where the russians went to that captial in germany where Hitler was hiding underground and took the whole place over and thats when the war finally ended then so...it was a pretty good game but proably enough WW2 for now lol.

I liked WaW but I felt i had enough after the CoD triolgy and after CoD4, should've remained having the same type of war since but I guess Activison wanted to add more to the story on WW2 and I hope they are done with that.

They should make COD that based on Vietnam war.

They might do that one. Who knows lol. I am curious to see the new CoD game wehre they said it would be based on a futurtisic war perhas similar to the Terminator or Starship Troopers movies.

I just watch G4TV today and say that the Killzone 2 will release in Feb 27 2009.

Eh, to be honest I dont really like the orginal Kill Zone on the Playstation 2.

guess because it was overated or that I didnt find it to be much fun for me or anything.

Maybe from the fact that some ppl such as sony fanboys said that it would be a halo killer and as I played it, it turned me off right away.

I honestly hate games that try to "kill" other games as a way to make it look better and they end up fucking it.

Such games as Haze and they said it would be better than Halo 3 and yet that one was fucked as well.

I guess because I dont like to play games where developers and fanboys brag and say they are better than the other games and they end up looking stupid or not as fun as it looks.

Who knows...but you like Kill Zone, thats okay. I guess I usually like the orginal stuff. Such as that I like grand theft auto better than Saints Row.

I dont think anyone ever bragged or said that Resistance is a Halo killer, at least i dont think so..Of course Resistance do have some orginality to it.

Off the top of my head, reading posted updates but long list of ones not mentioned:

Fallout 3 trophy patch was released last week.

Starting 2009, all new games for PS3 will include trophies as per Sony's insistence. (possible rumors and speculation of trophies coming to PSP though)

Tomorrow the PSN Store will update on Tuesday due to the Christmas Holiday.

The most highly anticipated update to the store is the new MGS4 level pack for LittleBigPlanet. Includes a slew of features from additional costumes from MGS4, level tools, 3 new playable MGS4/LBP levels as well as the "paintinator" a paintball gun used to shoot everything up in the new levels in true MGS4 style.

Another thing I noticed that wasn't mentioned is the Playstation Home beta is now live for all users instead of closed as it once was. (December 12th if memory serves me correctly)

From reading this thread it seems most play FPS style games. Am I wrong?

Anyone interested in playing online or meeting up in Home my PSN username is Vriezen

or price cut to compete against Xbox 360.

Please. The core system is a cheap and dirty whore.

The Pro system is good, but not good enough and the Elite system is a perfect match (with HDMI, bigger hard drive, includes HDMI cable, headset and a wireless controller) against the 80GB PS3 which is now Sony's main focus on sales (160GB version is only limited edition so that doesnt count.)

At least for ANY Xbox360 version can have about 80% of orginal Xbox games to play, but sucks that you cant even transfer data from the orginal Xbox to the Xbox360.

For the PS3 on older models can have about 95% or higher of PSone/PS2 games to play and of course with the memory card adapter...come to think of it. Sony may not sell anymore memory card adaptors if they dont sell anymore PS3s that cant even play PS2 games so yeah that would be pretty much worthless.

The newer models can let you play PSone games but not PS2 games...okay. :|

At least Nintendo has made most of the good decisions but next time they REALLY need to go with a console that has the hard drive included, seriously.

I don't means price cut to compare with arcade version but just make compare to Pro and $300 would be great for compete.

Pro does have HDMI, you know that?

I'm not plan to get PS3 because Xbox 360 is enough for me.

Yes after the Elite version came out, Microsoft decided to put that on white consoles as well.

But the Elite version still seems like the best for me...bringing out the "big guns" ya know? lol

Steel X, since we have been talking on the other thread, on Wii consoles. Now, I have also considered to purchase PS3 as well when I bought the Wii, which I would be shopping for it tomorrow - in Sydney. Purchasing PS3, is it worth, every penny? Please tell me if it is worth it. And about the HDD, is it possible to get a bigger HDD to replace the original if it is just a similar HDD that can be interchangeable? Like for example, the 80GB can be replaced with 320GB HDD?
