The lowest form of language

Sure looks like you getting plenty of attention here, imdeafsowhat :giggle:

I wouldn't know. I'm posting a lot on this thread. Not others. Because they're not thrilling. All of those are about complains and worries. Boring. Need more bullets flying over my head.

So, in your term, a language has to be written?

If so, I digress because even though a language is not documented on a written basis, it is still a language.

We use language within many different ways.

Personally, I don't see ASL as the lowest form of language. No other language are not even the lowest form either. All language are equivalent in their own ways.

Then ASL is dead. Because most teachers of ASL cannot speak ASL very fluent, nor in succession. ASL has not been required at all for admission to a deaf university or American universities. Looks like Pig Latin is much more alive than Latin and ASL.

Oh that means I am dead cuz I use ASL? :laugh2:

Nodding

Imdeafsowhat,

If you claim that the ASL is the lowest form of language, how come that it takes first-timers at least few years or more to learn ASL? :hmm:

Your language to me is considered to be "deaf". Because I can't understand it. I never once said Pig Latin is required. I said ASL isn't required. Period.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Exactly, Jolie. There are many world languages that have no written form.

I don't understand the point of this thread. Even if we all should happen to agree that ASL is the lowest form of language (which we have NOT agreed on, and I certainly don't agree on myself,) what difference does it make? ASL is still a language, low form (by your standards, imdeafsowhat) or not. And it's one that many deaf people use. I'm assuming you were looking to stir up negative feelings on this forum so I won't have any part of this other than my .02 cents that I've just typed here.

The point of this thread is to showcase how imdeafsowhat can actually get people to post on a pointless "seemingly flame starter" thread without actually getting people that upset enough to tell the mods to close this thread.

*starts slowly clapping '80s movie style*

P.S. You do realize that you guys are defending ASL from not spoken English, not SEE, but... pig latin...

There are 3 choices on how to react to a thread like this...get all upset and defend ASL until we are blue in the face, make a mockery of it, or just simply ignore it.

Perhaps the first language is farting and burping. It could be the reason that people with no respect chose to use the first language.

I'm just wondering if you went over to another country, are you able to communicate with ASL? Or Spoken English?

Choose one and that one is the highest form of a language. I know I gave you only two choices, but it's because that's all you know, in general. If you know another language, I'd say this, they don't know that the language that you are trying to use. So you are left two choices, ASL or Spoken English.

If I were communicating with deaf and CODA, I would have more success with ASL than spoken English. Perhaps you failed to notice the thread regarding the teacher that used a mode of sign to overcome the language barriers in students speaking 24 different languages.:cool2:

Whoopee for that teacher. But surely, that's a bit too much since for us, it's ASL or Spoken English, because we're in deaf/hearing perspective, not a teacher from regular school teaching students in 24 languages perspective.
