That sucks, Shel! I thought I had swine flu for a bit over the summer. Not sure what it was, but it went away. I'm not a fan of the doctor, so I don't really think I would have had it checked out unless I had it for a long period of time.

Just a very very tight heavy feeling in my chest with a nasty deep cough. Finally, I gave in and just called my dr, got an appt, and it was confirmed along with signs of a fever developing. I will have to miss work tmw. I am so pissed!

I feel really lousy..:(

Thanks..I hope I get better soon because this chest pain is so unbearable. It is like someone squeezing my windpipe and I have to work to breathe. It is no fun. Oh well..that's life, I guess.

It is the swine flu. Test results came back positive. Thanks!

Nahh, swine flu wont kill us, it is pretty mild now -- just needs to be confied at home for a little while, one of my deaf friend in my local hometown got one too, was confined at home for a week and recovered.

The idea of missing work for a week really upsets me ..The doctor siad that since I had it for a week so it should go away by Tuesday.

Thanks..just hope the symptoms dont get worse so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

do you take any medicine for it at all? I hope AD will make you feel better to put your mind off about the breathe. :(

It is highly recommended to let your family know that they needs to keep a good distance away from you so they don't get exposed though.

No meds..just over the counter meds. I will get Rx meds if my test results for pneomonia come back positive. I was very puzzled by that and she said it was because I had it for a week already so at this point, there is nothing they can prescribe unless I get worse. The only symptom I have is the breathing issues and feeling weak/low on energy but other than that, nothing else. Strange...

I have a mask so I am supposed to wear it only if my family comes in close contact with me..if not, then no need to wear it. The doctor said that because I had it for a week so at this point, they are probably already exposed anyway. I showed up for work all week...ooops. I thought since I had no fever, I was safe...WRONG!

Oh no. my sister was telling me how awful when she did breathe. it hurts. she had pneomonia. Resting is the key. Glad you went to see doctor.
 
she90, Ohno. I think that you may stay at home. I heard that the nation's first round of swine flu shots could begin sooner than expected, with some vaccine available as early as the first week of October. I will go to take vaccine next month.
 
Does anyone know if you can get an immunity test after the fact? I had what I think was H1N1 but I didn't go to the dr. It might be worth testing to decide about the vaccine.

I was planning on getting the vaccine in October so of course, it is just my bad luck to get it before it was ready. Oh well. Dr ordered me to stay home. She said I should have came in on Monday when I first started having symptoms.

YES, it hurts to breathe...all week, I had been suffering thinking it was just a chest cold until last night, it was so bad. However, I did go to work today but called the dr thinking I would go home early but my appt wasnt until 540 so I ended staying at work for the whole day.

They are fine except for my daughter...wow, she is really a spoiled brat. Her attitude really sucks!
 
I was in bed for 3 weeks. I lost my voice for another week. It sucked. I didn't go to the dr at first because I didn't know if it was just a cold that my kid brought home. Besides, I heard that Tamiflu didn't work. My kid didn't have it as bad. He was well after 1 week. At least no one got pneumonia.

Take good care of yourself and drink plenty of fluids. Hot tea with honey and lemon helped. Just be sure not to get dehydrated. Switch to decaf if you need to.

I have lost my voice too. I cant talk now..lol but I use ASL so it doesnt matter! :laugh2:

In bed for 3 weeks!!! The doctor said I had it since Monday based on what I said...so if that's so, then it wasnt so bad. I went to work, exercised (2 days of swimming 40 laps in the pool..lol), and did all my chores around here without feeling like dying. However, when I was teaching Science class on Monday, I did feel hurt all over and it was a struggle to keep on teaching but on Tuesday, I felt fine..Wednesday, a little worse and today was awful hence my decision to call the dr.
