That sounds eerily similar to what happened to me! But my response will be my usual long-winded elaboration. In short, my latest news is my doctors are still arguing over whatever caused my illness. It seems to have gone everywhere from water and foreign fruit poisoning to Crohn's Disease and a super bug from too many antibiotics. My blood was nearly as thin as water, and my BP was dropping steadily. I was bleeding out of every hole in my body, and in some places where there were no holes. For a couple of days, everybody who came to care for me was wearing a yellow bio suit (probably when they thought I had a super bug). Two of my doctors so far have told me that if I hadn't gone to hospital, I would certainly be dead now. I was put under for an "emergency colonoscopy" (sp?) to investigate the bleeding there, and I understand something unexpected happened to me during that procedure, but I don't yet have full details on it, and I hate to speculate. I got to see some ugly pictures of my insides though!

I've yet to feel like myself, so it's no wonder I'm not acting like myself. This was the first time I've ever spent nights in a hospital, and it wasn't as fun as it looked from a visitor's point of view.

I'm writing too much. I confess that is actually like me, but I just have one more thing I think has to be said since it involves whether I belong on this forum or not.

A few days after returning home, some of my hearing has begun to return in my right ear, and today, some also in my left ear. There is no explanation for that. As I understand my hearing loss, this is completely impossible. However, I or my doctor obviously don't understand it correctly since it is happening. I still don't have enough hearing to rejoin the hearing world, but I feel like I've become an alien to both worlds now, and I no longer know who or what I am. I've told everybody I know that I'll be deaf for the rest of my life, but now it seems fate is trying to make a liar out of me.

dont worry, I had a similar experience as a child - I lost my hearing almost completely at aged 14, then by the time I was 16 my hearing had returned to nearly its pre-loss condition. My audie had no explanation for it other than the use of my HA had appearently "re-trained" my ear to hear again. I am however still completely deaf in my left ear and hoh in my right ear.

I love music, but I would find ways to enjoy it visually.

I have always been deaf in my left ear and hoh in my right. I have always wondered what it would be like to hear out of both ears, of course you cant miss what youve never had. But I am curious to know if it would be too much for me or if I would adjust nicely. I doubt I qualify for a CI and not only that, I cannot afford it.

But you did express agony about the loss of music. So now you will be able to regain that if your hearing continues to return. There is always a bright side to everything.

I think it's the uncertainty that bothers me the most. "Nothing is certain," as somebody once said. But then, of course, the response to that statement was, "Some things are certain." You might know who said those things since they were elves :)

Do watch your grammar though. We worry most about that on this forum.:cool2:

I'm afraid I'll never be able to satisfy the grammatical rules of all places and times our language as spread through!

Hmmm, maybe I can help with the curiosity a little. My brain is automatically ignoring sound. I have to actively try to listen in order to identify sounds. I don't know if this is accurate though since it could be that my hearing isn't good enough for sounds to actually catch my attention. I mean, it sounds to me like I hear everything in remarkable clarity, but I obviously don't since the hearing people around me are still having completely inaudible vocal conversations with each other, and my dad just told me tonight that he was pounding on my door for 5 minutes before he finally gave up and sent me a text, and I was sitting about 4 feet from my door and had no clue he was banging on it. :giggle:

Yeah I know that bridge. :P I haven't driven on it yet though. It's a pretty messy December we've had so far. :(

It's getting messier down here by the minute. An hour ago--we had 1-inch fat snowflakes and now it's raining.

Everything is turning.......slushy! :ugh3:

Holy crap! Snowing hard here and Im going out of my fooking mind!!! It just started snowing heavily again - they say it will not let up until Christmas Eve! I have not been back at my house for over a week thanks to this weather!

On a positive note, I am watching all of TrueBlood episodes - Im addicted to it now!!!

Way below zero here. I took my husband to work so I could bring the car home and garage it.

Then I picked up my daughter and went to a restaurant for an early dinner.

Now my daughter is showering at my house because her pipes froze!!

Hoping to retire to a moderate climate in a few years!!

All our snow just melted from the rain. We now have bone chilling temps with below zero wind chills. Makes me thankful that I only have one more year of this crap, then I move to Mississippi.

I wish I could move to where there is consistent snow all winter always on the ground, where the population knows how to deal with snow because there is nothing unusual about it, where the houses and roads are built with excessive quantities of annual snow in mind. But I don't want to move away from my family.

The weather we have here now is normal according to hundred year averages, but the past 15 years have been far warmer than average, and people seem to have forgotten what snow is.

Coincidence that you ladies are discussing hair now.. just so happens that i'm sitting under the hair dryer. I'm gonna be here a long time. Takes my hair forever to dry.
