Hi Jiro, Do you have purple (HOVRS) member?

It doesn't take much to be better than MySpace. Pretty much all you have to do is exist.

personally, i could care less about facebook and myspace. my niece (who's 14) tried to convince me to create a facebook or myspace page, but i told her i wasn't interested. both are great for people who enjoy meeting others online, but i can do that through e-mail lists, forums and message boards.

Last time this MVP stuff came up, I asked a bunch of people on AD and got no response. So I did a web search, and found a whole bunch of stuff with the initials MVP with no related context. So I went to Dailymotion and YouTube and looked up videos with the tag lines "MVP" and "deaf" and I got a WHOLE BUNCH of people begging each other for help achieving MVP Purple and asking each other if they have MVP Purple. At this point, I was about to give up, thinking it was nothing more than some ridiculously addictive game that was suddenly becoming very popular in the Deaf community for reasons unknown, and Purple was an outstanding achievement or a high-level item or something. Finally, I read about a thousand blogs. I was cementing my conclusion when somebody finally used the words "Mobile Video Phone" instead of MVP. I still don't understand why we should care what colour it is.

I don't even use facebook any more. It's still on my profile, but it has been inactive for such a long time, I think I might just remove it. These kinds of forums are much better for meeting people! AllDeaf is by far the most active community I've ever belonged to! It has even surpassed the My Little Pony forum I belong to when it was at its peak! Now, it's sort of dead, unfortunately. I miss talking about it with people who know and care about what I'm talking about. They've all moved to a forum that allows cussing and swearing, and I refuse. My Little Pony is for kids, and profanity ruins the atmosphere for me.

There, I think I've changed the subject three times, or is that four? All in one short paragraph!

i know how you feel about certain forums and how they seem to die a slow death. there used to be a forum i loved participating in for people with bipolar, but i no longer am active there because of too little traffic.

fortunately though, there are plenty of other bp (bipolar) forums to participate in.

i've also found that some forums are more supportive than others, so i try to stick with those instead.

i agree about ad! :) i've never found a forum before in which so many people were active. the traffic on most forums tends to cease around 11 pm my time, but whenever i'm on ad, there's always a conversation to be had -- even at 3:00 in the morning! :D

Do you have high speed internet? Do you have Sorenson VP? If interesting MVP, I will contact you in PM for setting up new member. :)

yes I have high speed internet and no i do not have Sorenson VP. Beside it'd be useless for me since I don't know ASL... dammit

My deaf friends wanted me to join their Facebook and Myspacebook. I told them that they aren't my cup of tea.

I caught my niece (who's 13) using my laptop computer to open her Myspacebook and asked her - does your parents know about this? Her reply was:"yes, my mom and dad check on me once in a while." I said good but please don't give out your personal information. She said she knows that but I am still concerned about her safety. (She said she wants to be a model like her cousin who happened to be a professional model when she was 13, she's 17 now, she still travels all over the world (with her parents), and she has been in a several magazines. I have all her magazines.) she looks older than her age when she puts her make up on, I think she looks much better without makeup. My niece's 5' 9" and her oldest sister's 5' 11". They are very tall but I have other 3 nieces and 3 nephews are tall also... Even, my great-niece. She now wears 3T clothes... )
