Thanksgiving Menu?

By the way, I think I would like a new giblet gravy recipe. My old one is getting tiresome. Would any one care to share theirs?? (Yes, I could look one up, but its nice having a tried and true recipe from a friend)

Chocolate cream pies! Anyone have a tried and true recipe that you're willing to share? I've got some frozen spelt shells in the freezer so I only need the filling.

I only use this one now. In the past, it took a while longer to make from scratch. I tried this one year and no one could stop raving. Ha.

1 box instant chocolate pudding
1 box french vanilla instant pudding
1/4 tsp rum flavoring (opt) or Mexican vanilla
fudge topping

Thinly spread the prepared pie crusts with the fudge topping or use as much as you like. Chill them. Reduce the milk the box requires by 1/4 cup. Mix well with the flavoring if you choose to use it. Spread the pudding into the crusts. Chill. If you would like a meringue, cook the meringue circle on a bit of lightly sprayed parchment paper and cool it before topping the pie. We like ours with real whipped cream and toasted almonds.

i know my family is definitely having pork instead of turkey. i'll find out everything else on thanksgiving day!

Yes pork...mmm. We have added a ham to the menu as well.

Don't happen to have any recipes, my mom has either always cooked, or when she was working, we would go out to eat. We have no extended family here and I have no siblings, so it's my husband and myself and my parents. Because my family does not do Christmas, we have kinda big Thanksgiving "get together" and then I go to see my husband's sister's family <now, his parents died last couple of years> during that time for that holiday. My dad enjoys traditional Thanksgiving menu and he and my husband love lots of leftovers, so the menu will be the turkey<got pastured turkey from regional farmer>, sweet potatoes, my mom's stuffing which my husband LOVES, cranberry sauce, salad, cooked carrots and dessert. Hubby and I are charged with bringing dessert and salad; I have traditionally picked up vegan pumpkin or berry pie to bring which everybody does enjoy. This year hubby is considering if we also bring over some gelato to go w/pie - my dad LOVES dessert and this gelato is awesome!

Safe and happy Thanksgiving to all!

Marie Callendar makes vegan Razzleberry Pie which is great. My older daughter brought one the other day and baked it as I am sick.

It was good.

:aw: Botti, sorry you're sick!! Is it "swine flu" or "regular" flu/something else? :(
But am glad you got to try some of the vegan pie you mention that your daughter bought, that was nice. Had she eaten it before and that was how she knew of it?
I wasn't aware, :ty:, I'll look for it.
Feel better soon - cuddles and kisses from my furries, Moose and Miss Violet

Swine! And it is gross. My older daughter is a long time vegetatian so know most vegetarian and vegan foods. She is strict about it.

LDNanna, that is an awesome recipe. The fudge layer is pure genius! I'm a whipped cream person, too. Thanks!:ty:

:aw:ohhhh no, Bott, well, take it easy so you don't have relapse, too! I'll be thinking of you....

I was also strict vegan at one time, not currently.

Eve, I just made the pumpkin dip for gingersnaps. I am really hoping that I can leave it alone. That stuff is .... sinful. Thanks so much for that wonderful and easy recipe. Seriously, I could eat it all, all by myself.
Thanks so much for posting that recipe.
