Texas School says no to Lesbian Parents

It's a private school, so they can set whatever criteria they want.

It's a private school so they can deny admittance based on who the parents are. Just like how hotels and restaurants and other private businesses could deny blacks entry.

Private or not, legal or not, doesn't make it right.

Needless to say I would never send my kid there and would have just tried to find another school. I wouldn't want my kid to grow up in an atmosphere where they were hated and judged.

the hotels, restaurants, and other private businesses cannot deny blacks entry unless you're referring to old time.

Yes, I'm referring to the past times when it was legal to deny people of color entry. Just cause it's legal doesn't make it right.

Why is that they would have no problems admitting children of killers or children of cheaters but they have a problem with a child of lesbian parents?

Maybe I missed it but did they say they admit children of killers, etc?

What? You never heard of mafia sending their kids to catholic schools?

ugh ..I wish you would think before things come out of your mouth or head...and I wouldn't ban you for anything If given the chance and you did that to me in person I'd prolly slap you in the face for being a disrespectful douchebag all the time when you KNOW I have a GF who is on the forum so that makes it even more disrespectful...and btw that statement makes no sense I'm not a school and NOBODY owns or pays for me thanks very much.

Sorry for the off topic

I'll accept if you slap my face. :)
Make me wake up and realize I'm being asshole. :)

That's private school and which is very unfortunately.

Yes it is.

The big problem I have in this case was that it was so close to the start of school. The 4 yo had her hopes on going and there was an obvious incorrect assumption by the school. If the facts are correct Jill scratched out the word father and wrote a second mother on the application. School claims they were fooled by the name Tracy which can be male or female but what about the scratch out?

I still support the school's legal right to do it.....tough case though.

When parents seek a private school, especially a religious one, for their children they usually seek out one that matches their beliefs so that there won't be any conflict in what the children learn at school and what is lived at home. I don't know why parents would choose a school that would teach against their life style. It seems that would cause constant conflict and confusion for the children.

Nope....totally diagree.
I can see.....all-boys
all-girl
all-catholic
etc.

But not.......all-white (we have a few in Texas)
all-black (we have a few in Texas)

Just because a school is private does not give it the right to discriminate, just look at a golf club called Augusta Gold Club (home of The Master).
They tried the "private" route through court and got their ass kick and turn around and became non-all-white.

Do you have a source for you comment on Augusta???? There are still golf clubs that don't allow African Americans FYI.
