major difference is..... the locust swarm is caused by nature. To weaponize insects on large scale for terrorism purpose..... yea..... good luck!

We're already being infested with bugs that hitch rides in luggage from country to country, via airplane. It wouldn't be too hard, but it seems really labor-intensive to plan such an onslaught, and also there's the risk that they wouldn't infect enough people to make a real statement, plus the risk that other predators would eat the insects before they could do any harm.

I'd say we have enough to worry about right here without worrying about outlandish nefarious plots by terrorists. I'm too busy wondering if I'd get bedbugs if I bought a new bed. :-o

yes possible. anything's possible. point is - in order to conduct an effective acts of terrorism, you need to create a weaponized version to make a devastating effect. Devastating enough to make a news for a while. For this mosquito thing... you need to weaponize it so how are you going to weaponize it? What are they gonna weaponize mosquito with?? You need a lab + weaponized virus + delivery system + etc.

Beside.... have you ever seen mosquito in major metro area like NYC and LA??? with CDC and government protocols, West Nile Virus is containable. and to add another obstacle - terrorists have quite a limited window of opportunity to do this because mosquito requires tropical/temperate temperature + lake.

no biggie! nothing to worry about. if I hear in news that it's possible to create a bomb that's as small as water bottle that can level 5-blocks.... ok now I will shit in my pants!

that scientist and author need to get a grip of reality. doesn't it occur to you that the scientist is doing this in hope of career upgrade or to attract government contract for "further study"? or maybe he's just an attention whore?

You and I both know terrorists have already thought of every clever ways to terrorize people. Who ever thought of hijacking 4 planes at same time to crash into buildings?? Who ever thought of making a devastating IED from an artillery round? Who ever thought of making baby and mother a suicide bomber? They are twisted people in this twisted business who can think of twisted way of terrorizing people that no sane mind can think of. The best we can do is brace for attack, help the victims and prepare for it next time.

It's funny to me that people automatically think terrorists would get an idea from that article or tv show but it's the other way around. Hollywood movies get the ideas from what terrorists have already done.

The terrorists have been doing this "business" for centuries. they have insider information.... connections.... funds.... and the worst kind - sympathizers. Sympathizers? what do I mean about that? There are sympathizers who share their cause and they're somebody ranging from commoner to businessman to scientists to military officials to high-ranking government officials. The sympathizers share classified information with terrorists, teach them, fund them, and help them.

and this silly little mosquito article is going to give them a great idea about terrorism? i don't know about you but the scientist and author don't know jack shit about terrorism weapon... and I don't either. why waste money, time, effort on difficult thing when you can do something simple and cheap like fertilizer bomb in a rental truck?

To be honest, it can be possible. As techology improves over the years, getting more powerful and stronger and such, such techology from rich countries as Britain, Germany, Japan, or even the US can possibly make a very deadly B.O.W.
