Hello,
Back to AD before going back in the hustle and bustle with my legal battle :-/

Contrary to many of you, I have the (bad) tendency to lose weight with stress.
Last October, I was only 41kg for 1,52m (I have no idea with the American unities   Too bad :( ) and my psychiatrist for ADHD told me it's too little.
In fact, I was often unwell, from a very banal cold/gastro-(enteritis) to a pericarditis, passing through an infection around my BAHA screw (too bad, it could have gone to bone  ).
Now I was able to gain 4 kg, which makes me in better health : I stopped being short of breath as soon as I climb 3 floors with the stairs (I live at 5th floor), I stopped needing to wear a fleece to sleep at night (eeee, Paris is not Siberia !) and I stopped being unwell all the time. Great :D

The only problem is when I eat normal quantities (like a normal plate of pasta with some meatballs I love !! Yummy ! :P Or 4 tablespoons of mash potatoes, which has been told me to eat as quantity), I feel discomfort, limit pain (it's borderline pain, it's so incomfortable that I feel nearly like pain. Very difficult to describe).
If I lessen the quantities, I'll lose weight, and my GP told me not to (I risk damages on my health, and I don't want to add more consequences than I had with being at 41 kg).
But eating this normal amount of food creates discomfort to me, borderline pain.
So, I'm between 2 chairs, and have no idea on what to do.

=> Any idea on what I can do to avoid this very unpleasant, borderline painful discomfort and eat enough as my GP told me ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Consult with a specialist. Your general practitioner should refer you to one. Good luck and I hope that you feel better soon.

Thanks for your clear and undoubtful reply :)

I haven't seen yet my GP for this matter, I've seen her to make the point about problems with sleeping (double dose of stress : mom is into a very harsh legal battle and I can't sustain her more than I am currently doing). Sleeping problem is not totally fixed, but it's improving.
So, as a solution, I have to see back my GP on Monday :-/ Too bad :(

start smoking marijuana. seriously. it helps boost your appetite.

i was 80 pounds (36.3 kg) at 5'6" (167.6 cm) before i started smoking regularly.. right now, i weigh about 110 pounds (49.9 kg). it's been almost 1.5 years.

i apologize if this isn't really your thing. it's all in your hands. :)

I'd recommend Ben and Jerry's but I see that you're in Paris. High fat premium ice cream might work.

If it were me, I would gain some pounds if i eat solid meal or ice cream full in the "coffee" cup bright before I go to bed each night. It is working for me. I dont know if its working for you in case if you did.

Well, smoking marijuana is not the best idea I could find, and not only because of further damages on health, but also because like that, I can say "bye bye" for my driving licence !
Is there any less dangerous mean to boost appetite ?

Now I am at normal weight (45kg and 1,52m is indeed normal), the problem is discomfort, nearly pain after eating a normal amount of food :(

Get an appetite stimulant from your doctor.

Think you could be intolerant to gluten or dairy? Sometimes they do cause stomach pain in some people. Go to a GP or Naturopath.

Off the point: My uncle the Naturopath was the one to diagnose me with few intolerance to food. I did not have any specific symptoms but do feel better when I cut back on the amount I eat.

Hope you find a solution and start to feel better and regain weight to a normal level.

Miss Delectable, thanks for your reply :)

I am at normal weight, 45kg is absolutely normal for my height (in meters we count ;) ). I did the experience you purposed for a few months, but nothing has changed.
Have you had an elastic for hair in your hand ? Try to stretch as far as possible, and it'll break. The discomfort, borderline pain is like that, like if I've eaten too much whereas I've eaten a normal amount of food.
Too bad :( I have to see my GP for it :(

Ulcer?

Ulcer. Gluten-sensitivity. Casein-sensitivity. Gluten-casein senstivity. Crohn's.

Some stuff that comes to mind. See a nutritionist.

Anakin, for marijuana, no way because I can say "bye bye" to my driving licence so I won't repeat it one more time, marijuana is no way for me !

For the other replies (I didn't retain nicknames), I'll see my GP tomorrow (I have to have a referral from her before seeing a specialist).
Then we'll see.
We won't make plans on the comet, as we say in French (it means we'll wait and see : wait to have the information and then, deciding).

I am with the more sensible people, go back to your GP and ask to be referred to a specialist in gastrointestinal disorders and nutrition disorders, not to be confused with an eating disorder.

Smoking marijuana is just stupid and recommending it as a cure all with out proper scientific research to back up your claims and no medical training or license to practice medicine as a doctor is a federal offense. I'd not mention it any further. :squint:

You have Ben and Jerry's! I didn't know if the company distributed their product internationally. We have a certain brand of ice cream here that is only distributed regionally (only a few states in the U.S.).

Since you have Ben and Jerry's, I prescribe New York Super Fudge Chunk, Chunky Monkey, Chubby Hubby, etc. :P

I would never call Paris retarded. I'm sure that you have a lot of food way better than the food where I live.

Perhaps, it could be an allergic reaction to the food you're eating, the kind of food you're eating that doesn't settle well in your stomach, or a bad mix of food that you're eating?

I have a couple friends who can't eat seafood. One is allergic to shellfish. Another can't digest seafood very well.

I also have a friend who can only drink Coca-Cola when eating spicy buffalo wings. When he drinks Dr. Pepper, it doesn't mix well with the wings.

I have another friend who gets gas when he eats at McDonalds, but not when he eats at Burger King.

It varies on the individual.

Try keeping track of what you eat. Try eating something simple and with less variety. For instance, salad without too much mix of carrots, cheese, bacon bits, etc. Or a hamburger with simply ketchup and/or mustard instead of also adding bacon, onions, etc. See which works best for you.

You should also see a specialist that can help with food and with eating. :dunno:
