YES! Thank you for reminding me. I want my sweet tea served in the jelly jars such as Mason or Ball. :D

Do you mean sweet tea as jelly jars for spread the sweet tea jelly on bread and rolls..? right?

Does Germany have Lipton or Luzianne tea bags? If not, and you want some, I will mail some to you (for real). Just PM me. And then you can make sweet tea using Reba's link (see above) and try it for yourself. :)

I think Germany do have Lipton for tea bags but I am not sure. I will check at supermarket tonight. I only know that we have like this in Germany

That's what my boys like to drink..., not me and my hubby... :aw:

I doubt either we have lipton tea bags and don't think we saw Luzianne tea in supermarekt because we buy herbal and black teas from herbal shop, not supermarket. I will check and let you know tonight.

Interesting... and :ty: for recipe link... Ice tea... yes, that's what I thought so. Interesting, I wasn't realize the difference between sweet tea and sweetened tea.... Do you mean real sugar and artifical sweetner? correct?
Sweet tea means the sugar is added to the tea while it is hot so that it completely dissolves.

Sweetened tea means the sugar or artificial sweetener (it doesn't matter which) is added after the ice tea has cooled. The sugar or sweetener doesn't fully dissolve in the tea.

It's the process that makes the difference.

Empty glass jelly or canning jars are used for drinking the iced sweet tea. Nice thick, heavy glass jars with wide openings.

That's Lipton brand but it's not the same as their tea bags. I use the large-size tea bags made especially for iced tea.

Here's a picture of today's sun tea that I made.

Sweet tea is trade mark of the southern states. If you taste one, you will be hooked. Even Pizza hut do serve them in southern states. I was rather surprised but always enjoyed the taste of sweet tea. Now I live in the north and made a sweet tea. The guest added more water to water it down because it was too sweet. I said it taste just fine!

*Holding out my empty Mason jar (the kind with the handle) "Tea, please!" :)

Me too! My favorite is sweet tea with sliced oranges floating in the pilcher(and a little bit of juice from the orange in the tea.) Yum!

I'm going to go make orange sweet tea right now.

Ah, I hadn't thought about using the orange slices in the sweet tea. I should give this a try. It sounds good. Usually I'd use the lemon slices which is common.

Is it any sweeter by using the orange slices in the tea or is it a bit tangy?

I have an ice tea maker but since the weather been so warm and sunny, I use a gallon glass jug with water and lipton ice tea bags and leave it outside in the sun until it's ready... I'm crazy about sweet tea!!

I was born and lived several years in the North. All iced tea was always served without any sweetner or sugar.

I moved to South Carolina and learned about sweet tea. You are 100 percent correct. It's not really "sweet tea" if the sweetner or sugar is added after.

My son-in-law (native South Carolinian) must have sweet tea that almost tastes like syrup.

Yankees do not understand "sweet tea" and Southerners do not understand Yankees.

You really can't go to a northern restaurant and expect to get sweet tea. ;)

South is known for it s good old fashioned sweet tea . Just practice the making perfect iced sweet tea . Southern sweet iced tea sweet perfect for hot summer's day . Try it and enjoy . My home is South Carolina . I know my son lives in Everett,WA . He alway ask me to mail some dry food . I alway ask him to send some famous coffee . ha ha

I have a very important annoucement to make.

There is a difference between sweet tea and sweetened tea.

Sweet tea is when the sugar is dissolved as the tea is being made. Sweetened tea is when you add those corny packages of sugar or whatever to tea in a glass.

Yes, this is a Southern thing - and I'm so pissed that nearly none of the restaurants in this non-Southern town have sweet tea. I'll order a sweet tea and the waiter/waitress would say - oh, we have packages of sugar.

And then at that point, I usually do my *sigh* and make a comment about how these restaurants don't know to have sweet tea available for gals who moved here from Arkansas, and then I pull out my ready-made sweet tea in a container. A girl gotta have her sweet tea.

How do people live without sweet tea? Seriously. How?

Well, I guess I know who is serving me "sweet tea" when I go visit her! :wiggle: Honestly, I always ask for unsweetened tea here in FL and then put sweet and low in them, but lately I've been hearing how artificial sweetners are bad for you and it doesn't help weight loss. So, in honor of this thread, next time I go out, I will ask for sweet tea before I move to Calif. ok,, so that way I will know what the hype is and didn't miss out on it here in the Deep South I am at for just a few more weeks.

You'll always find a pilcher of sweet tea in my fridge. :D

I check Lipton and Luzianne tea bags at supermarket last Wednesday. Nope... :aw: Honestly, I prefer unsweet tea... Maybe homemade sweet tea is better than I tried ice tea? Unfortunlately I don't have any Lipton or Luzianne tea bags to follow Reba's link.
