still denying global warming?

I copied and pasted - perfectly same as webpage that I read in link.

No, I'm not subscribed to SFChronicle and I just could read ay no charge.

Ok, because your link says you must be a subscriber to read the full story. There is not any information at the link you provided.

edit - ok, I see that you pasted the full article - thank you

I don't even know how they came up with the term "climate deniers". You mean there are actually people who believe we live in a vacuum? like ... rain isn't really real? Plants and trees, and grass, and insects, and pollination, and tide and wind currents .. all just a figment of our collective imaginations?

I don't deny there is a climate .... :giggle:

They coined that phrase just like "Holocaust denier" in order to resonate a response. The ironic flip side, they are actually denying natural, climate variability as the main reason for climate change...not humans' contribution.

And three years later...arctic ice still shows no sign of disappearing.

Earth has not warmed (trended up) over the last 16 years. If all of the North Pole sea ice melted, it wouldn't even raise the sea level at all.

well -

However, the total estimated ice area is underestimated due to unclassified coastal regions where mixed land/sea pixels confuse the applied ice type algorithm.

Foxrac, I read your article by James Temple and apparently, he is trying to blame manipulation of data on conservative 'think tanks". He is attempting to appeal to a liberal audience and portray conservatives as "liars". He does not give any real data. It is simply propaganda.

Apparently, he has never heard of climategate. http://www.climategate.com/

It became international news a few years ago that several prominent climatologists were manipulating data to make it appear that the world was on a crash course for extinction due to global warming. In other words, they flat out lied in order to get grant money. there was absolutely no political motivation behind these climatologists fraud - their motivation was government grant $$$$ a condo in Hawaii, a BMW, Porsche .. etc.

These were not conservative 'think tanks" that were manipulating data.

I think you made bad comparison - both of holocaust denier and climate change denier are irrelevant.

For, I believe that holocaust is real, even I believe that climate change is real.

Yes, climate change is real. We have summer, fall, winter and spring. Some summers are hotter than others. Some winters are colder than others. Some of the hottest summers were when there were absolutely no carbon released material in the atmosphere. Some of the coldest winters too - ever hear of maunder minimum?

It coincided with the little ice age

Well, I don't originally copy and paste any article has strong political influence involved because political discussion is forbidden but I chose to did it because some members, including you can't read because of SFChronicle require anyone to become subscriber before they can read it. It will put risk for this thread to getting locked up because of political discussion.

Hate to say, most climate change deniers are conservative, or crazy and most people believe in climate change are moderate to liberal, but not all climate change believers think all global warming is real - depend on situation.

My article include real data - see citation from NASA. I think climate change deniers are propaganda too - no difference when I say to you. :dunno:

The climate change is heavily biased and controversial, like I said above.

Little Ice Age - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The season change is normal, but we do have unusual weather sometime (extreme weather).

I'm looking into more complication of climate change that cause climate to change in long term, including sea level rise.

There are more scientists claiming that the global warming scare is a hoax, than scientists claiming it is real.

I recall reading a study about how nature has been fighting back (concerning CO2 emissions) and how plant life is growing far more quickly, and far more densely than it has in the past.

There isn't much point for me to debate about climate change because some area in US may not disappear until after we die - more than 100 years, but we may have deal with frequent of extreme weather.

It is too late to change it, though.

Arctic Sea Ice News and Analysis | Sea ice data updated daily with one-day lag
July12-350x238.png

The slow retreat of sea ice in the Beaufort Sea has resulted in the most extensive ice cover seen there in the last seven summers (Figure 4). Ice extent also remains rather extensive in the Chukchi Sea, though other recent years have seen more ice at this same time of year, particularly in 2012, when Shell was forced to delay drilling operations and reduce the number of wells planned. Despite extensive ice cover, visible imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite instrument shows melt is well underway.

figure2-350x280.png

During the first two weeks of July, ice extent declined at a rate of 132,000 square kilometers (51,000 square miles) per day. This was 61% faster than the average rate of decline over the period 1981 to 2010 of 82,000 square kilometers (32,000 square miles) per day. The fast pace of ice loss was dominated by retreat in the Kara and East Greenland seas, where the ice loss rate from July 1 to 12 was -16,409 and -17,678 square kilometers (-6,336 and -6,826 square miles) per day, respectively. The Laptev Sea ice retreated at about half that rate, at -8,810 square kilometers (-3,402 square miles) per day. In contrast, on the Pacific side, sea ice has been slow to retreat. During the first part of July, the rate of ice loss in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas was only -3,375 and -6,829 square kilometers (-1,303 and -2,637 square miles), respectively.

figure1-350x417.png

While the rate of Arctic sea ice loss is normally fastest during July, the warmest month of the year, ice loss was even faster than usual over the first two weeks of July 2013. As a result, on July 15 extent came within 540,000 square kilometers (208,000 square miles) of that seen in 2012 on the same date. The ice loss is dominated by retreat on the Atlantic side of the Arctic, including the East Greenland, Kara and Laptev seas, and Baffin Bay. In the Beaufort and Chukchi seas and much of the Eurasian coast, the ice cover remains fairly extensive, especially compared to recent summers. Compared to the 1981 to 2010 average, ice extent on July 15, 2013 was 1.06 million square kilometers (409,000 square miles) below average.
