No, Medicare won't pay for hearing aids (which is mind boggling..). Medicaid doesn't normally either but the patient can request that money be diverted from their income in order for Medicaid to 'pay' for it.

omg… my hearing aid is a Rexton mini piccolo.. it's old..

To Melissa and anyone else interested, I just wanted to let you know I received my analog Starkey 675 back from Lloyds Hearing Aids. It took about two weeks as promised. It was sent in dead and came back (living), it's in my ear now and working fine. Cost $133.00 includes postage. I did have to pay a bit more as it is over 7 years old.

Overall, very pleased, if anyone would like to use this business for repairs, give them a try. :thumb:

When we lived in a country area, and it was too hard to get back and forth to an audiologist office for earmolds, I used to use Lloyd's, and they did a pretty good job, also redoing it when it was wrong.

Oh, I'm pleased to read that. I really do need new molds, but I'm scared to make my own. Is it safe to do, is it simple? I have a fear of something going wrong and the material hardening in the canal and I can't get it out, or something dumb like that!.

The specialist that I used for years recently died and I do not want to go to a new audi. There will be high pressure to buy new aids and I don't want to do that right now, nor be badgered with sales pitch.

Maybe I'll think about doing my own molds and get brave and try it one of these days.

They did send impression kits, and I think you need help, but I don't remember it being that hard.

I just got one pair back for the second time to fix the telecoil. I can tell what the replaced and fixed. I don't know that I could send this back with out the case being cracked. There's a bit of a misalignment or damage on them getting in. One is not set properly. I can't see to set it. This leaves me a upset and in tears( I know it's not a huge deal) I am not sure that I want to send off another pair this way. Mine are over 7-10 years old. That may be a huge factor in anyone wa ting to work on them let alone have the parts. This stuff makes me nervous and now I don't even want to see an Audi anymore just to anticipate bad news.

Oh gee, sorry your repair didn't go well. Lloyds can work on any no matter the age, it's just that they charge $25.00 more than the standard repair amount for aids older than 7 years. They also have a warranty, so they will work on them til fixed or let you know if they can't be fixed.

I certainly understand if you wouldn't want to keep sending them out.

Hubby still says not to worry. He's getting irritated with me and says.. Not all is lost. We will try digitals again later and recheck cochlear later as a last means if I can see to be a candidate. I am just to "obsessed" with the volume control right now. I told him tonight I really need a chill pill and he chuckled. He knows I am under stress and is being patient with me. I love him so!
