Yes exactly, when you work overtime or two jobs. All the money goes to welfare and ss/ssi/ssdi people.

I am very disappointed in Deaf people because they didn't try very hard to find the job or speak up for training with an interpreter. Most of the company do pay the colleagues to enroll colleges to get their degree and promotion their jobs.

They just give up and collect the soc sec checks. It makes me so furious.

well, since i have ssi and ssd, i have a reason that i cant work cuz of under my dr order, i have a diease back so i dont lazy around here, i am making crafts and sell, and help around here clean... i been go shopping for my mom what she need...

I hate to say, this is entirely NOT true! This is truly misleading! I have read the budget report about 8 years ago when they(government) started the massive cutting down these benefits. To my surprised, only 1/2% I mean half of one percent of your tax dollars goes to SSI/SSDI. I said to myself, HOW COULD THIS CUTTING WOULD SOLVE THE MONEY PROBLEM????

Disagree? Where do the congressman get money to get paid? Where the money for highways coming from? Where these defense spending money coming from? Where do the massive money spending on homeland security coming from? Oh how about whopping over 550 billion of dollars to rebuild the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, where does this fat money coming from? Many of people don't realize that welfare spending isn't that major budget problem we are facing! We are facing other serious budget problems, much worse than these welfares. Cutting welfare have proven to fail solve the problem, but making it worse anyway. Why worry over 1/2% of the budget and forget the rest of 99.5% of other spending?

Whats more, there is plenty of tax credit that would wipe out your tax liablity, that is if your very smart on how to do do the taxes (The legal way!).

That is indeedly correct! Whats more, there used to be if your diagnosed as an Alcoholic, or drug addict your eligible for SSI checks!!! That was phased out about 8 years ago. Can you believe that?

yes, with their medical condition. I am speaking of some of Deaf people who are such good healthier. I have seen high statistics Deaf people who are traveling alot since their health are excellent and enjoy their lives. They are only 25 to 50 years old. They raise to learn from school, parents and friends to collect ss which is a good for their lives.

We need to education them how important their lives are to support themselves to go to work instead of give up and discourage themselves. Most of company and Federal Government did not call them for an interview. They may write down wrong resume what they have some background experience or education.

This can include employment, accommodations, promotion and transfer or termination of employment either through layoff, staff reductions or termination for a cause that occurs because of communications issues. It is blatantly discrimination.

We are working on for the Deaf people become more priority for the interview and getting the jobs. We MUST reduce SS for the Deaf people who are in good healthy. It will be very HURTFUL for our future economic.

I know everyone's ranting about lazy deafies on disabilty.......but, at least it's more legitimate then hearies getting disabilty for drug abuse and alcholoism or even "ADD"
I am NOT lazy, but for crying out loud....I can't find a job that would make enough money for both basic costs of living AND the additional costs that my disabilty incurs. I am DEPENDANT on my hearing aids. I can't function without them. God, with the way things are my parents should have raised me ASL only......then I'd be well educated AND could function without the crutch of my hearing aids! I'm deffy not lazy, lazy......(party every day) I freelance write, to build up my resume.

Yeah.....and? Most of your tax dollars go towards our overinflated military budget(thousand dollar toilets anyone), or corparate welfare.(MickyD's promoting its NEWEST product in India) Very few of it goes towards social services....you're probaly only paying pennies towards slackers. Most people with disabilties are on SSI/Disabilty LEGITIMATLY!!!! Very few of them are dumbass slackers parlaying a back injuiry into an eternial golf game!

I have no complains about helping those children who are on welfare and Low income families, But, one thing I hate the most is when people abuse the system by using welfare to buy drugs, and alcohol. I'm not paying someone to get high or drunk out of their minds. I wish people would stop abusing the government system. Now, after Welfare had change food stamps by using Ohio Direct Card, I couldn't be more than happy!

I've seen a guy who is disability, who is currently received welfare, All he spend his money on is alcohol. That's bullcrap I refused to pay for that.

A lot of Purio Rican and Brazilian immigrant mothers have more than 3 children. I was flabbergasted to seeing the mothers who are single with different fathers. She collect food stamps, welfare and soc sec checks. I am tired to seeing more and more foreign come to this country and apply for the food stamps and soc sec from other countries.

When I was at Soc Sec to waiting in room with long line. I am surprised to see a lot of foreign people apply. I was changed my new last name with my new soc sec card and I was not able to get out from that office. I waited for one and half hour in long line.

I saw a lot of children crying and screaming. The mothers couldn’t handle with them due to fatherless. It is sad to see those children are on the welfare and food stamps. Why can’t the foreign women take birth control method?

There is increase foreign and healthy Deaf people apply the soc sec because they can’t find the jobs. A lot of Deaf students at High School, they learn from adults who are living on soc sec. They apply and want to stay home instead of going to college or look for the jobs. I prefer to teach High School students to learn how to writing the resume and apply the job. It is sad because I have seen high statistic high school students prefer to make a living on soc sec because they look up at their Deaf parents or friends.

They are not living there for "free". The military service members earn their benefits. Housing is part of their compensation package, in exchange for their service.

The hearing students also get free education at any military schools.

Again, not free. In exchange for their education at a military academy, the student is obligated to military service as "payment" for that education. Also, if the student does not fulfill his/her obligation, then the student is required to pay back the costs.

hey Sabrina, I understand how you feel about deaf people there is nothing you can do because they will not listen to you it thirs life, They just think they can do whatever they wants. also they think it thirs freedom . Some deaf people work so hard to find a job also sometimes The VR give them low pay job or the VR is not doing good job. or who is a mom for little kids don't have babysitter There is many many reason why deaf people is on ssi

If you have an actual doctor's order not to work, that is perfectly understandable, and disability income is necessary if you have bills to pay and a family to raise. I'm referring to those who are able bodied. Here are the two problems I have with SSI:

1. There are able bodied people out there sitting at home, making more money than I do, while I work 40 hours a week.
2. Part of my paycheck each pay period goes into a fund that pays for that income.

I have the right to respectfully disagree. I haven't been beligerent or insulted the deaf individuals who abuse SSI.

my neighbor, married, is unhappy with SSA told me she is earning 1,200 a month it affects her husband's ssi decreated like 300 off already she also got letter from SSA says that her kids have owed 449 each, my god, she has earned 1,200 that even owes to SSI 449+449 n 300 husband's ssi off, ugh, 1,200 back? HUH?!? I think SSA workers mismatched/wrong figured out :shakehead:

I thought her earn/wage will only affects her husband's ssi til his ssi amount is 0 then affects to their kids, right?

i agree, i have seen many not only deaf family also hearing parents around here their deaf kids have ssi and they took and spent on drugs, also gifts then took back to pawn or sell, ugh, i feel bad for their kids

I was shocked what my friend of mine told me. State of California ssdi provider each of child $640 dollars (5 kids). Plus a mother earn 990 father earn 1,110.

640 x 5 = 3,200 dollars plus 990 + 1,110 = $5,300 a month

What is the fucking, they are not working because they are Deaf with such a good healthy. They build a beautiful big house and install jazz in the back yard and swimming pool. They travel every month going down to the camping.

Why I am working 80 hrs a week I only have a vacation in the summer.

Tell me, it is okay for the such GOOD healthy Deaf people earn the soc sec while we are working. I DISAGREED with that....
