"spring" at my house. once this melts it will be the "mud" season

here there is not a cloud in the sky, 40 degrees and not a single bud on a tree. just 10 minutes down the mountain; trees are budding, dogwood, cherry blossoms, goldenrod and azaleas are in full bloom.

AGREED ! I am a person who does love winter, but the transition months are wet with mud. Ready for green, dry roads, gettin the bike out. Come fall, look forward to snow, but around March, ready for it to start the transition, albeit that is two months of MUD. Followed by the fire season into late fall, when the rains start again.

We have Moyie in May. A HUGE mudfest. I have a shell of 79 bronco in the barn, body is trash. Really thinking of completely gutting it to the body/frame, a set of 60's, lincoln lock the rear axle, ARB the front, 44" Super Swamper Boggers, built 460 with an auto. Zoomies on the exh, one seat, no windows, just ALOTTA motor and cut boggers............built just for the mud. BTW, I stuck a CAT 527 in the back draw past the tracks. As the motor idled, it just sank lower and lower. The mud up here (clay) is epic.

No, they are much smaller- but they look bigger because they are close ups.

The first picture is wild geranium, also called craneflower around here.

I don't know what the other purple flower is. I'm trying to find out (I ID this wildflower every spring, and then forget it by summer).

the three leaved plant with the deep red flower in the center is trillium.

The yellow stuff is just buttercups.

In our case, when we used to raise chickens, we put a golf ball in teh nest because it made the chickens think there was an egg there, and thus, it was a good place to lay eggs.

Old timers used to actually have glass eggs that went in the nest. I've even seen chickens lay eggs in a 'nest' beneath an apple tree because they thought three hard little green apples were eggs.

What is the golf ball for?

I came here to update this thread and realized I never answered this. The golf ball probably rolled into the nest as the nest was located at 18 green on the golf course I worked for.
