Sorenson VP-200 Use Without Account

Just smash your hard drive into smithereens. Guaranteed. That's what Adam Lanza (the shooter of Sandy Hook Elementary School) did to his computer so the feds couldn't retrieve the data.

If I ever get a new electronic toy, I just might do that-- but first a new laptop, somehow.

Nope, I don't know that. That's why I'm curious about this software that'll actually make your presence on a laptop disapper. What is that software?
Let me google that for you

See if you can find answers there.

Best solution is getting an ipad and use facetime.
I don't think his grandmother has one so he wants to find a way to contact her though VP since she has a VP200.

I was told that Facetime is not compatible with VP200.

Oh, my ex-brother-in-law is a Sorenson VP installer. I will ask him how hearing people contact their deaf family member or relative through VP without VRS.

let you know, my old friend told me, he is deaf, his father is hearing and little ASL, he speak Sorenson service will bring his father? service said OK, he see and chat his father in Hawaii, both were happy, few year ago, his father about 90 age

I don't know DrAnonymous or grandmother is deaf?, if both no.. can't help, if yes one deaf, try ask Sorenson service infomation.. I don't know no more today

Hearing people can't get a free VP, even though they know ASL as per FCC's policy.

DrAnonymous and his father are hearing and have a D-Link VP1000 (I think) which is old and has a poor video quality. DrAnonymous' grandmother is deaf or HOH and has a VP200 or nVP. I believe, he mentioned that he (and his father?) use VRS but they prefer point to point calls.

My plan is to return it to the person who sold it and get my money back. I think it would be very unfair and wrong to punish the person who sold it to me without knowing any details. For all we know, a deaf parent or relative may have died and the person selling it didn't know anything about it belonging to Sorenson. Their really isn't any guilt here on my part or any person's if they don't realize something they are buying is not supposed to be sold.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't help me talk to my grandmother directly. I'm going to start a new thread with some questions on video phones that might work.
I just talked to my ex-brother-in-law who is a VP installer for Sorenson. Bad news for you! He said there's no way to call your grandmother's VP unless you use VRS. As for D-Link VP, he also said it doesn't work anymore due to no software updates. VRS software for PC/mobile is for deaf people only.

He told me that you can video chat with her through Facetime, Tango, Skype (not free) or other video chat software via PC or mobile. That's it.

If you have a deaf friend who has a VP, maybe s/he will let you use it to call your grandmother.

About deaf people using VP's..... I have one friend who'd love to take a peek at the gold mine of info that I have on my VP contact list, and that's why I don't let him use my laptop at all-- too much sensitive information on it, and he's not to be trusted around them.

Now you believe me?

I'll be honest-- haven't had time to look at it yet-- people have been commenting on my posts, and I've been busy keeping up. However, I'm starting to learn when the downtime around here is, which is usually around 11:30 PM or so, so I'll look at it then.

Keeps a mind. I used network specialist for Chicago and QC.

It's likely stolen. People want to be able to chat with others in real time, and if it's stolen, he could be charged with possession of stolen property, a felony.

Felony? Depending on states.

In my state, if value of Sorenson VP cost less than $500 so it will be misdemeanor, so felony is only for over $500.

I think Sorenson would prefer to send the unpaid claim to collection agency and force subscribers to return the VP or their credit history will be damaged, so it is cheaper than having state to prosecute for criminal charge in the court.

That's probably true.... didn't think of it that way. Of course I have no idea how much it costs to make each ntouch VP and VP-200, so that's probably what would happen.

Solution: 2 iPads! It's Christmas time. Get one for her.

The cheapest iPads (16 GB) go for $300 or so, while the most expensive (128 GB) goes for well over $1,000, and I doubt many people could afford two of these, let alone two 16 GB ones, unless they had a really good paying job where they made over $1,000 every two weeks, and those kinds of jobs are hard to land.

That 128 GB iPad doesn't need WiFi, as you can travel with it anywhere you go, and you never need to worry about losing connection. Otherwise, you'd need a WiFi connection for iPads.

Here's my recommendation-- to be budget aware, I would go for a Android tablet-- either Asus or Samsung, but if you REALLY want something worth paying for, I'd recommend a 16 GB Asus tablet, like mine, which has been one of my best buys so far this year, and one I haven't regretted making, because the quality is superior, and not only that, the Internet connectivity is excellent. Plus, you can get one of these for less than half the price of an iPad. (16 GB iPad-- $300. 16 GB Asus Memo Pad-- $109). See what I mean? iPad for 16 GB times two is over $600, but Asus for 16 GB is under $300, but here's the thing-- I brought this just as it was running out, and it was selling for a discounted price, which is how I got it, so I don't know if they have that now or not, but worth checking out.
