I meant that when women breastfeed in public - I normally just look away, no problem. Men have breasts, yet it's okay for them to be topless anywhere in front of kids? Hee hee

Men also have the ability to breast feed, believe it or not.

So, if we all create a stink about this, should mother animals (dogs, cats, et al) be barred from breast feeding their young while in public? Good grief, get a life! :roll:

European culture is more open minded regarding the issue of mothers breast feeding and that should be a normal part of a mother and her baby's life. There is nothing sexual about it. The baby is hungry and needs to be fed and her bones be nourished for normal baby growth. Hopefully in America there will be more public acceptance of a mother breastfeeding her baby.

Breastfeeding is actually more healthy and more natural than those posionous baby food called Gerber and un-natural milk I forgot what the name of the milk was and I am sure the ladies here on AllDeaf are much more up to date on these things as they relate to women's health and raising healthy children.

In the early 1900's breastfeeding in America were normal daily rountine and many babies got very healthy and grew up very healthy now we are here in 2006 and millions of babies are nutritionally deficient en masse there has to something done about it I know that can never sastify the public but For example if the city subway has added one extra train near the front just for the ladies so they can breast feed with hard to see through tint windows and police guards at each entrance and exit then the woman and her husband can go in that train cabin and the baby can be breastfed in peace.

I guess they are trying to say if you're going to breast feed your baby, to do in a more discreet way. Breast feeding is a very natural bonding between Mom and baby, although I never breast fed. It seems these people who have made these comments and complaints, had breast fed their kids think it's fine to breast feed, just don't have your breast hanging out in public for everyone to see. Some of these people do need a life, and/or have too much time on their hands.

I am aware that breastfeeding is alot healthier but let's put that aside for the argument's sake. Supposedly if your wife could not be able to produce the milk to feed the baby and are you going to still require her to breast feed her? On the other thought - What if your wife does not feel comfortable about the breast feeding issue and yet she wants to feed the baby with the formula, whatcha gonna do? Drop her like a hot potato, eh?

I agree with you Jolie!!!! We do have the choice of either breast feeding or bottle feed our baby. Like you said, there could be so many possibilities why a mom cannot breast feed, so we have to take the other option to bottle feed. We cannot let the baby starve now can we? Men may have created children, but we women carry these baby for 9 months inside of us, and this creates such a strong bond between mother and child, and if Mom cannot produce milk in such a way, then she has to go with her options!!!

Breastfeeding the baby by a different woman than the mother is done in tribal cultures but I have a hard time imaging any western culture woman doing that--especially in the US.

Heath, you may have to learn to be more flexible in certain situations within a marriage. Being a big boss in the marriage is not always going to work--I know what Im talking about from personal experience.

I don't know if I am wrong on this one, but, wouldn't an agreement be broken anyway, if we allow another person to act as a temporary surrogate parent for breastfeeding. God's child would only have one set of parent's, liasions not included. If mom cannot breastfeed for whatever reason, you can just being her to a breastfeeding clinic, and expect someone else to do what God has intended us to do, and that is to care of our baby. It's not the end of the world if mom cannot breastfeed, what's more important is that this baby is getting the love it deserves.
Getting back to the beginning of this thread, I think it's just the idea of publicizing something that is supposed to be a cherished bonding between a mother and child put on the cover of a magazine and the opinions that are following this cover.
God still loves us no matter whether we breast feed or not. We must focus on the baby's needs always.
