I've been stoned deaf for a few days already and my world has never been so silent before, at least not in a while. I can't understand words said in songs, I can't play my guitar, and I can't hear/understand people talking to me. :eek3:

Looking forward to getting a new hearing aid. Anyone who has used both analog and digital hearing aids, is it worth getting the digital hearing aid? I had the in-the-ear hearing aid but now I want the BTE hearing aid. Suggestions?

By the way, am I not deaf enough to be an administrator of AD?

Digital BTE hearing aids really are worth it !!!!!! I have Digital hearing aid. The only hassle you will have to deal with is the moisture build-up and the best thing you can do is to get this from Radio Shack and it blows out any moisture build-up so powerfully that you will hear crisp clean sounds when you put your hearing aid on and if you can't hear too good then check your hearing aid to see if there is moisture build-up then use this green bottle :

Max Professional™

Alex, go for digital because it can be programmable and adapted to your hearing loss.

Alex,

Yes, go programmable digital with a remote control that goes in your pocket. I've not tried one but others have said it is convienent. The remote allows you to discretely adjust the volume up and down. Programmable allows for changes in the frequency response curve should your hearing change.

As for...

Are you trying to get a tent city started here? :eek3:

LOL

i got digital hearing aid last month, i LOVE IT!!!! it worth! cuz of i can hear more better than old hearing aid.. i am serious... u will love it when u get them...

I have a digital hearing aid and it is configured to analog mode. I didn't like the digital sound at all and had problems with it. This is a second digital hearing aid I had and I had it for about 6 months now. First one I had it for 4 years and gave up on it. I got sick of keep going back to the audiologist all the time to have it adjusted and it never got any better so I went to another audiologist. This audiologist suggested that I try this new one which is I have now. After I have been going back again and again to be adjusts, my audiologist realize that digital sound is not working for me and he configured my digital hearing aid to analog. Now it is so much better and no more keep going back to him. What a big relieve for me!

I wanna to get digtal hearing aids but not right now cause I am thinking hmm if I want or nah hmm :)

I used to have Phock (not sure the spelling) but somehow Tahoe got it and chewed it! :pissed: SO I am borrowing Audiogoist's office back up hearing aid and I HATES IT! Cuz it have static sound. So I prefer the 1st one I had (it was purple and I love the color hee!) So when I go for CI, and if they willing put implant on my left ear, then I will order a new one for my right ear.

So good luck Alex..it is no fun to be stone deaf. I've been stone deaf for few years due to headache till I wanted to hear my son's voice so I went and got new HA which was purple one.

BTW, By the way, am I not deaf enough to be an administrator of AD?----VERY FUNNY ALEX! No matter if you are deaf enuff or not to be an adminstrator of AD! :giggle:

Question Alex, How did you get your hearing aids broken? Was it from rough sex with some booty caller the night before?

Oh hoo boo hoo booo...

Choose analog and/or digital hearing aids
would be your own personal preference
just like try on your new shoes yourself
as you are the only one who knows which
one is most comfortable/suitable for you only.

Imagine me being stoned deaf all of my life
since birth, ugh ? I even used to play the piano
and drums for fun without hearing anything at all
Maybe they can tell that I am NOT hearing enough :)

Obviously, Alex had his orgasm to melt all of his hearing aid molds. His ears are full of wax. He needs to remove his hearing aids before make a love.

Well, most men have no common sense.

yes , it's worth of getting it. Digitals are so much filexible in adjusting to the user's loss. I had used analog for 17.5 years and then have switched to digitals. The digitals sound more crispy and do not distort too much. In addition, digital aids protect the user from loud sounds.. Soft sounds are amplified so much in nice way but loud sounds are not amplified above the UCL (uncomfortable sound level ) of the user . This is especially useful for severe and profound losses .

I suggest you to give a try the Sumo DM digital hearing aid by Oticon. I wanted to get that 'powerful' aid but couldn't get it due to its high price! :(
I am currently using Win112 btes from Bernafon. They are fine ,too. Phonak is also a good brand.

Anyway, I must state that if you are stone deaf you may not get enough benefit from hearing aids. Because the residual hearing is rather small , the user may not get enough speech perception even with the most powerful aids. This is partially true for me,too.. I can hear lots of environmental sounds with my digitals.. but speech SUCKS at times. Beyond of this is related to Cochlear Implant subject .

LOL Cheri!!! Good one!!! Now Alex cannot hear the woman moaning or screaming anymore. Too sad!! :giggle:

Widex is probably on the top line of hearing aids. I cannot afford the Widex and I wore them for a two weeks trial free. It was nice and good sounds. Now, I am wearing Starkey Davinci PxP. It seems good to me so far.

Most digital hearing aids have peep sounds that tell you that the battery is dying. I do not give a damn about the beeps because I had a hard time to ignore it when I was watching the play at a theater. It was my fault for not bring an extra battery with me.

Y is right that everyone has different preferences so I think that digital is popular as long as it is not a Borg's hearing aid. Gee.

Good Luck with your hearing aids! You should ask for a trial free for two weeks to see if you like your new hearing aids...

I agree with web explorer............take advantage of the 30 day trial period, and experiment with both digitals and analogs. Try Oticons and Phonaks....Oh and it's great that you want to go back to BTEs............they are so much more powerful then those crappy ITEs!
