Snow in October???

Ya the rink is really pretty..but it does get pretty cold..lucky it was only 13 below haha it can get to like 40 below here...hahaha which sucks..and thats when i HATE going outside..but the key to going skating on the canal is layers...lots and ltos of layers! lmao

Oh yea, the secret's in layering but you couldn't do the same with your feet!! If you don't wear the right socks, you don't skate too good---in my opinion. We were pretty warm.....except for feet! We came up from a dairy farm near Watertown, NY and we were ready for the weather but man, the feet started getting cold on us!!!! I think we skated for three hours, just having so much fun, drinking hot chocolate. I believe ya about lower temps but that night was cold enough. Just appreciated being there that night.

Maybe someday we will take our lil ones up there when they are older.

I went outside to dump my ashes from my pellet stove and saw the flurry and said oh crap. A little while ago and saw snow cover my deck not too trilled about it. I want more fall til end of Novemeber. Dang not too thrilled. And still more coming down. I am glad my truck is in the garage getting fix and new tires so I will be ready for winter. I hope I dont have a long and hard winter. Here in NH we always get bad winter every other year so last year was a bad one so this year I hope not.

No snow here yet lol But sure enough, it's so unusual cold overnight here! (low 38)

Got up this am. Freezing my tail off!!

Mind you I live in south Florida

Went to take my son to the bus stop. Miss the bus!! Bec I did not realized my windsheild on the pick up truck was iced!! It was still dark so by the time it got defrosted. I was too late. I was like wow! The thermometer in the truck said it was 34 F.

We broke the record low for Oct 29th since 1910. Today.

I live in S. FL as well. It didn't get that cold where I am, but we got cold for us.

Will this affect the orange crop?

If there's a hard freeze, but you would need temps in the 30s for a consecutive 4-5 days period for the crops to be significantly affected. Food prices are already high, though, so we'll just have to see what happens.

I live far South of alot of people, though. I live in the Keys and our lows are roughly 20 degrees warmer than those people in Miami and further northward. In Miami, it got down into the 50s the last two nights. Here, we were in the sixties overnight. People further north (from Miami), you're talking 30s and 40s.

No it takes one good hard freeze for the citrus crops to be compromised. We usually try to save them by keeping the sprinklers on. Keeping the oranges from freezing. If the orange itself freezes. It is ruined because the ice crystals causes the oranges and juice to taste freezer burnt and dries out the juice. Florida oranges are primarly for juice.

Reference to my knowledge.

We used to own several groves.

Also putting plastic bags over them?
(only on those brief cold temps overnite)

Thank you. I think I was mostly correct, but I was going by what I heard on the news. But, what you just said sounds like a better explanation then what I gave. :)
