SICK! I am so glad I am not a smoker. My skin still looks great at the age of 38. :)

Me neither, i smoked for a short time though, but what reason to continue?
My brother unfortunately smokes now, I was like, is he following my other sister who is a regular? Well, fuck it, not my problem.

Glad I quit smoking. Going on 4 years now. Looking back on it quitting is way easier than anyone lets themselves think it is.

I have a friend who is similar age to Jiro (not telling the age), was smoking for 9 years, and has quit cold turkey 4.5 years ago and he said that he is very glad he did, so did his girlfriend.

For me it was 12 years of smoking then one day a coworker was talking about quitting and I said lets do it. He lasted 3 weeks and I refused to give up. Now smokes are 2 bucks more a pack than when I quit. Easy motivation to not start back up. Not that I want to. I never realized just how bad smokers stink until I quit.

12 years!? Damn, that's very long, it would be a very long recovery for you mate, you have at least 3 years left to have healthy lungs again.

If they even recover. I thought any damage done at early age (13) is permanent. I can tell you that my breathing is a lot better and I can play sports without gasping.

Also I use to get sick at least twice a year. Now I havent had more than a cold in 3 years

You're in the road to recover as you improve every year.

There are some people who smoke and refuse to give up.

I once had a roommate whose daily routine was...

1.) wake up
2.) drink a bottle of beer
3.) smoke a cigarette (sometimes a joint)
4.) go back to sleep

- a few hours passes -

... repeat steps 1 to 4.

He would do this 3 to 4 times a day.

He refused to get a job because he claims he's an actor and that actors do not work... and that he was too good-looking to ruin his self-image from working jobs.

Well, if he keeps this up... he's gonna be 40 years old living with his mom with a alcohol and smoking addiction.

I'm glad that I'm not smoker.

I did smoking at once when I was 17 years old at dorm in deaf school before staff catches us, I think it was back in April 2005.

no it's not permanent unless you did something fubar :)

I don't have a nicotine addiction. I won't be crying if cigarette companies are banned in 2020...so yes it's very easy for me to quit smoking. I just don't think about it (cigarette)that much though my significant other is heavy one. He hates it when I "preach" him to quit...take a look at pack prices..come on he couldn't afford it. He said that I am not his mother!! I know.. I'm trying to help him. It ain't cool. I hate strong smell of menthol cigarettes and other kind of non-filter cigarettes such as Pyramid or Basics (his Grammy smokes too.) They make me sick!!! Wake me the right up from smelling them lit the cigarette in the bathroom with door closed downstairs. Ugh.

Needless to say, I'm tired of Grammy complaining all the time to my face about the rising prices on a pack or a carton of cigarettes. She's such annoying. I have to ignore her at everytime she brings up about the same issue after i told her many times "simple give it up". She couldn't shut up. Grr.
