Right...i'm hearing and i don't feel like i've been disrespected.
Are you kidding me? I got it from hell and back on here last night.

I have read the thread Deafteen is talking about. I could see why this would be upsetting to anyone, either hearing or deaf. Do I agree with hearing people disrespecting deaf people? NO. Do I agree with the reverse, again no. It should not matter if you are hearing or deaf here. We are all just people. Besides, where do people who are losing their hearing fit in? They are not deaf, yet they are not fully funtional hearing either.
How are they supposed to fit in? They are shunned from both worlds, feeling isolated an alone.
The deaf don't want anything to do with them seeing as they can hear. The hearing people treat them poorly too. Not all deaf people treat people bad, nor do all hearing people.
well, this site is "all deaf" by the deaf owner. said it all.

Where, exactly?
Then why is there an interpreter section?
Because deaf use an interpreter, and interpreters need to be concerned about deaf issues,
In the vent about hearing people thread, it was made clear that you and Scocietys child were hearing, but Deaf... but other people... apparently not... people don't even know my views before they judge.
I am concerned about deaf issues! Are you kidding me...
You asked me why there was an interpreter section, and I explained why there was an interpreter section. The question you asked had nothing to do with you, and my reply had nothing to do with you.
This is exactly what happened in the thread you just referenced. Comments were made in a general way, and you took them personally and reacted defensively.
As far as the way I'm peceived around here, I have not only been actively involved with the deaf community for over 20 years, I have been a member of AD for some time. I've paid my dues. And I don't get defensive about things that aren't addressed to me personally.
..sorry...
No need to apologize. Just use it as a learning experience.
...I am learning... a lot...
I'v actually been quite busy seeing as I leave at 2.45 am
It is not just the thread you're all on about its about all this contuinous arguments and disagreements that has been going on Alldeaf for a while now

Please understand that comments weren't necessarily directed towards common hearing people that are already on the board. It was directed towards the ones who come and go..
You perceived the whole deal thing.. in the wrong way, I think.
They weren't even referring to people who are on the boards.
Some people didn't get mentioned, but that's only because none of them stood up to question their feedback. Not everyone's going to be remembered, you got to take it with a grain of salt.
Bingo, there you go. This is what happen if I vent about a problem, but no one want to listen to my complaint. You got that right.
I am a newbie to AD, am hearing, and in my second semester of ASL. While not proud of it, my reasoning for taking ASL over another language choice is because I am a non-traditional student and thought ASL would be the easiest to learn. Was I ever mistaken, not only is ASL in noway as easy as I thought it would be (the grammar still causes me some confusion, but I am continuing to learn), but the historical and continuous treatment of Deaf People is absolutely appalling to me. I can certainly understand why some Deaf People are bitter towards the hearing world in general. Maybe that is why I don't take any of the negative comments made here towards hearing people personal. I understand what Jillio means about acceptance being earned and would never presume to expect to become one of the group over night. I do want to say that I have fallen in love with the language. One thing I like is the lack of vagueness and the fact that there is no beating around the bush. I occasionally get myself into trouble because I tend to say what is on my mind in a world where pussy footing around is the expected way to get your point across. I additionally want to thank everyone who has been patient with my questions and suggestions about the presentation I posted for comments and opinions. And yes I did add a line about Alexander Graham Bell and the Milan Conference to my report.
