Should Elephants Perform In Circuses?

Butterfly, hi....do you mean that specific circus company or do you mean ALL circuses? Wouldn't you go to a circus whose trainers do not mistreat it's animals?
 
I went to circus last year, but it was really boring.

Just put these animals in the zoo and treat them properly....

Put some grass out there and let them lay on grass and rest in the zoo.

It was more than just one circus that I have been reading about trainers abuse the animals. I feel that I don't want to go back to a circus again because I never know that the animals are being abused or not behind the curtains.
 
I'm sorry to hear that, Butterfly. Maybe this is a stupid analogy but it almost sounds like if I decide one or two deafies are the scourge of the earth, that all deafies must be the same way......of course, I don't think that of deafies, lol.

How do u feel about being trapped in the cage forever? They were forced to take away from their own home in wilderness and brought here for show and tell. Don't they have any feelings?

True chimps are cute esp when they were babies. When they grow older and they become not so cute.

Not just circus trainers who abuse them, it does same in India or anywhere in Asia, when they own those elephants for some kind of work. Watched document on TV about them once, it upsets me greatly. It is us who pay to watch them and laugh and did not know they were mistreated. We are no different from those abusers.

Yes, I agree that it´s not ALL but there´re control from animal cruelty protection to make sure what/how the animals or pets are treat well.

We have circus in area where we live last December 2005 but we were surprised to learn from my children´s friends that there´re no animals in circus anymore. :eek: We didn´t went there since we thought it´s cruel to see the animals are being force to "dance" for us... They are not belong to this but wild life...

They are not trapped in the cage, I've seen they have doorway which outdoor and inside. I see no harm in that at all, of course that's my opinion. :thumb:
 
Prefer rest of all animals are belongs to wildlife.. stay there... Just pay visit view'em.. or zoo.. feel their animals need deserved to be freedom walk around..

than circus..
 
I'm against all zoos and circuses. Especially for really smart animals like Elephants.

This type of thread is more or less a debate...however, will the majority please stand up and let it be known that you have an elephant as a pet--:D (ofc, j/k...but you get the idea--;) )

Oh of course, i understand..mea culpa! but you know some people
have strange kind of "pets" alligators, snakes, lions, gorillas, etc.
that they do call "pets" lol! but i do understand that this one is
just a debate so im sorry! Have a good day.
 
I think the elephants and other animals in the zoos are
treated better than in circuses. The trainers forces the
poor elephants to do what they want them to do in their acts
and if they mess up or refuse, they whip them or something worse
as i have seen the hidden videos they showed on TV a while
back i forget, i think it was on Animal Planet or whatever, it
was gruesome and so sad. So i think they should BOYCOTT THE
CIRCUS, PERIOD!!
Thats why i think they should be just left alone in the wilds, just
be wild animals, not in CAPITIVITY!!
I took my son to the circus when he was 6 years old and that
was the last time i took him and you know what he said? it shook
me to the core of my soul....he said he didnt like it cuz the
animals are being held in CAPITIVITY!

know why i just now did...ha..Im not trying to argue or
anything but umm...
In the "Pets" Section..it says underneath it that it says
"and animals" so i still think this thread should be
in "Pets and animals" cuz it is ABOUT ANIMALS, not
necessarily just PETS.
I realize it is a debate but it can still be a debate about animals
in PETS/ANIMALS section..same as DOGS debate.
Am i still wrong? If i am, then im sorry (again) LOL!
